In the latest issue of Empire, they’ve done a feature on Robert Rodriguez’s production company, Trouble Maker Studios. In that article was a little picture of a Trouble Maker employee behind a wall of Predators concept art.

Here's that pic (enlarged).

Yeah, it's not great...but it's something.

Also, they just announced that Rodriguez and Antal will be releasing some footage from the movie:

“Hometown hero Robert Rodriguez (“Planet Terror”) and director Nimrod Antal (“Armored”) will treat SXSW film festival attendees in Austin next week to a sneak peek at footage from their upcoming actioner “Predators.” The event will take place at the Alamo Ritz Theater during the kick-off of the 2010 fest, March 12.”

At least in the concept art there, the new Predators look interesting. Definitely waiting for real footage to judge, those behind the scenes quick snaps weren't too impressive but between film lighting effects and real cameras and all, the final product might be pretty impressive, and for figures, it's about representing the screen look anyway, so if they look stupid behind the scenes but great on camera that'd be fine by me.

The characters are NOTHING like Predator's characters. I've read the script. The only character that's just like Dutch, is Dutch himself....and he was thankfully cut out. :D

HA,
you're talking about the alternate ending where Dutch comes down from the mothership.....
Ya that wouldn't be that bad if you don't take the Movie seriously. But unfortunately due to AVP and AVP-R Pred fans don't want to be BS'd so I'm glad they took it out. It would be great on the DVD extras.

That reminds me; is Hot Toys going to do figures for them? I know that they most likely will, but it's weird how they didn't list it with other 2010 figures.

I'm sure Hot Toys will do it. Predators are like easy money for Hot Toys. I almost wonder if they announced the movies they did announce just to feel out interest in products from that. So far they've yet to release anything from those titles. Iron Man 2 is the only one I'm certainly they'll produce from, I do question if anything from Avatar or Prince of Persia will actually happen.

I did drop HT an email about whether they would be doing figures from Predators - their response was positive but noncommital, thanking me for the interest. That said they were the same about doing P2 stuff beyond the Elder, and we still got the Lost Predator...

It seems that the new Predator designs are being kept under very close hold, hence HT may be under orders to keep things under wraps until an official release. I'll be astonished and frankly disappointed if they don't do Predators figures, as MaulFan said the Predator line has been a standing moneyspinner for HT. It's had a 'quiet' year with only P1 released in 2009, hopefully 2010 will see a return to the historic 4 figures per year.

I'll be buying any predator, predator animal dog bird fish thing they make. I'll also be enjoying the movie as corny as it might be!

I'm definitly buying most/all Preds that HT's produces for the new film...barring any unforeseen design flaws.

From what little I've heard, the "Super Predator" sounds like just a particularly large and nasty example of the species, so that in itself doesn't bother me.

My fear is that the whole plot is uncomfortably reminiscent of the excremental "Forever Midnight" novel... though granted Rodriguez has been bouncing the idea around since the early 90s. I'm sure he will do better.

I totally forgot this movie was coming out.

Honestly I don't even care either, and it's sad because I LOVE the Predator

There are no "Predator Dogs" or "Flying Predators", there is just alien monsters which resemble dogs for a Predator, and a flying alien creature which helps the Predator track prey from above.

Heaven forbid that there are other living creatures roaming the Predator home planet...jeez, some people need to get over it.

I don't think Preds are that big of a money-spinner for Hot Toys. They always seem to be in very short supply. And they don't have as much appeal to them internationally compare to Iron Man and Dark Knight.

Look at how many more Licenses Hot Toys bought after Dark Knight and Iron Man.
