How do you go about determining that actors are miscast based on a trailer where they just run around in the woods?
They have legs. Excellent casting.

Couldn't figure out where else to post this, so here ya go...

Got some new info and some cover art for the upcoming prequel and movie adaptation Dark Horse is doing.

https://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=25304

"Robert Rodriguez's upcoming feature film "Predators" will be adapted into a comic. Normally the secrecy surrounding Hollywood releases makes comic tie-ins difficult. However, Rodriguez was very forthcoming and cooperative with the idea and shared a lot of his information with Dark Horse, Allie explained. Before the release of the film, Dark Horse is publishing six weekly comics through June and the beginning of July that tell the back story of the characters. The first week of July there will also be a 64-page prequel book followed by a sequel released a week after the movie."

Now, there are two stories being told in the prequel.

The first is called PREDATORS: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE and tells the story of Nolan (Fishburne's character).
The second is called PREDATORY LIFE, which is about Royce (Brody's character).

The following is cover art with a brief synopsis of each issue.

Be aware...THESE ARE NOT PICS OF THE NEW PREDATORS from the movie.
This is a prequel series leading up to the new Preds being introduced in the comic adaptation.

A team of Navy Seals is in the midst of a firefight when it suddenly goes dark. They awake to find themselves in a new and more deadly environment, stalked by a strange enemy.
One by one these special-ops officers are killed by an unseen threat, until only one man remains. All alone in a strange world, he must do what he knows best—survive against all odds.

The lone Navy Seal finds himself in an uneasy alliance when he discovers another survivor on the planet—but he also learns that here humans are prey, transplanted from Earth to this alien jungle, to be hunted for sport.

The human alliance strains under the threat of the vicious Predators, an elaborate system of traps, and the impossibility of escape, until the men are locked in their own game of cat and mouse against each other.

Traps are set off and new Predators enter the fray in the blood-drenched conclusion: the set-up for Robert Rodriguez’s reboot of the Predator film series!

I would like the movies to expand on who the Predators are.
I want to see more of their home world and how their society works.
They must have Yautja who are Scientists and Engineers. There might even be Yautja who are against the hunting of other speices.

Because Adrian Brody (whilst, I admit having legs) is completely wrong for a movie like this, and IMHO any movie that needs acting ability beyond looking like someone has just stolen his christmas presents and pissed on his head. They guy ruined King Kong IMHO. He is not suited to fantasy stuff. IMHO.

Agree, 100%!
It seems the writers on this tried to figure out how to rewrite the first one as cheaply as possible. How do we get a bunch of witless tough guys into the jungle with not one but several Predators. I was looking forward to this until I saw the trailer.

Someone earlier mentioned that Predators will be better than AVP & AVPR, Lets set our standards high then?
:rotfl

Agreeable and also very very interesting that Predator society would be as complicated as our own.

That's cool, I respect your opinion and all that. I just have no idea what you're talking about. I think Brody is a good actor. Your description sounds like Nic Cage to me.

I don't want an exploration of Predator culture.

Its like Keaton playing Batman, Craig Playing James Bond and Ledger playing Joker. Dont judge until you see the finished product. Same with collectibles, you get a bunch of internet pitchfork wavers screaming how bad a piece looks before the final article is released. 9 times out of 10, they're made to eat their words...

No thanks. That would shatter the mystery of who they are, and make them less fearsome.

What happened to proper Sci-fi film making?

Died out some time in the 90's I think :lol

I am afraid if you just have more of the same from the first movie, that's going to happen anyway.
Movie Monsters and Horror Characters always loose their impact after the first movie, take Jaws, Michael Myers, Freddy, even the Alien, and look how cool the sequel was. That's because Cameron expanded on what the Xenomorphs were. He was the one who made them like an ant colony. He created the Queen and showed how the other Aliens were the workers.

Thats up for debate if it made the aliens better or worse though.

Well I am not saying Aliens is better than Alien, but the monster had lost it's mystery after the reveal at the end of the first movie.
Cameron had to go a new route rather than retread old ground which just would not have been scary a second time around. Example, Alien3

True. But I don't think showing their civilization and culture would work in giving them depth.

And to be fair, it seems like they're doing something with the two tribes thing. Will be interesting to see how that plays out.
