You said you "just picked up the blu-ray" so I thought you had it in hand, not that you "just ordered it online."

The online covers aren't final and it does indeed say "Unrated Director's Cut" under the title on the actual case. This is also the first time the "unrated" scenes have been restored to almost match the PQ of the rest of the film.

Fair enough. :lol

That's good news. Can't wait until it gets here. Probably do a marathon through the Nina-craptastic 3 which will inevitably be better than this POS.

Where are you seeing that AMC will show the original? I'm not finding anything on their site.

The AMC in Pittsburgh has been showing classic films for the past year or so. Groundhog Day, Jaws, Batman 1989, Die Hard, Raiders, Breakfast Club, Back to the Future, etc. They bring the reels from the studios. Robocop, Ghost, Spaceballs, Godfather and Casablanca are slated for the next couple of months. They do these cool trivia games too before the film starts and you can win free swag. If there's Robocop trivia I hope I get some Robo posters and crap. One guy got banners and a standee and didn't know what to do with it.

So it's not like a nation wide thing unfortunately. When I saw Batman the manager (who did all the LOTR marathons) stated that the idea might catch on elsewhere, especially for film anniversaries. But yeah Original Robocop and remake, back to back. Wonder why they didn't throw 2 and 3 in there. :lol

Hmmm, well I'll keep checking then. AFAIK the unrated cut (which I'm sure is what they'll show due to the recent 4K restoration) has only been shown once or twice for special anniversary engagements.

Either way it'd be a blast to see on the big screen again.

Yeah, I'm really hoping it's the uncut version they show. I have a good feeling it will be.

Also, it never hurts to just ask your AMC theater if they'd consider such showings. That's how it started over here. The manager came up with "classic movie nights" and people would go up to him with suggestions in person or via Facebook. If the movie has enough following and heads (and the studio agrees), then they make a night of it.

Yeah, but Alamo does it so much better. :lol

Alamo has forced the mainstream chains to take notice, which is a good thing.

Now DiFabio can enjoy his Robocop marathon. :lol

You sound like a hipster now. What happened Jye?

I eat hipsters for breakfast. :lol

I appreciate any venue which brings the classics back.

I've seen Jurassic Park, Raiders, F13th, STM at both my local AMC, Showcase and Alamo theaters.

But I do enjoy my local Alamo more, better popcorn. :lol

Now where is our Batman 89 return to the big screen.

Okay now you're clearly being melodramatic. :lol

RoboCop 3 is one of the worst sci-fi/action films ever made. Save for the recycled suit (which is still off putting due to Burke's voice) and score (sorely missed in Part 2) there is NOTHING redeemable about R3. Its not even so bad its funny, or bad but somehow entertaining on SOME surface level. It has nothing. It introduces no cool villains, no cool looking robots, it has not one good action sequence and no memorable or even passably amusing or entertaining dialogue. The cast is awful, the execution of every element is awful.

Robo 2014 already has it beat just in the fact that the drones look better that those RIDICULOUS "cyber-ninjas." And that exchange between Keaton and Oldman alone trumps the entirety of R3. For Robo 2014 to be worse it will have to be remembered famously as one of the worst films ever made like Battlefield Earth, Showgirls, etc. I'm as unimpressed as the next guy with that training clip but there is no. freaking. way. it'll be as bad as RoboCop 3. There's just no way.

I can't believe *anyone* would presume to make that claim in advance. R3 is just that awful.

I agree with Khev.

R3 is poison. :lol

Robocop 3 is better than the Original, Reboot and second combined.

Jet packs yo. The epic class wars battle had me in tears. Can't forget dat machine gun arm hand.
