Can't be that big a fan of the original if you look at dual wielding in disgust. ;)

Ugh he wasn't Robocop there. I have no problem with dual wielding, but with Robocop I do.

He isn't RoboCop in the new movie either. :lol

He's "Alex." And if they want Alex to dual wield, why not, its a pretty cool way to enter a firefight.

Sure if people like it fine, they can and it isn't for me to decide for them. I just can't help but despise what they did to the character in terms of his design and story. I think I wouldn't be on the hate train this much if he wasn't wearing a Batsuit with a nerf gun. I honestly think a lot more people would of come around if he was at least gray.

Can't w8 for a super stupid joke about this in the actual movie:

Also saying "Make him more tactical, make him black!"
Yeah... they forgot to add "And put red neon light on his helmet, kids love this sort of stuff!"

Okay I feel better that Keaton isn't actually looking at the original suit. Its the original suit with the BARE FREAKING HAND. :lol

He can mock that stupidity all he wants.

Even without the hand there are minor differences throughout, particularly from the waist down:

We know the new Robo is going to flip his mask up every other second. How much do you want to bet that they'll also show his face under the mask a la Tony Stark for the other half? :lol

Watch in the remake he dual gun twirls... :yuck
:lol
I think thats one of the lesser problems this flicks gonna have.

that is completely not the case.

We are talking about a suit for God's sake.... wtf? a SUIT!
Everything else in the movie is going to be different. the plot will be different, the way he "dies" is going to be different, the action will be different.

But making the suit like the original is too much?

Some people only see things in extremes, so if you have criticism they're going to say its a damned if you do or damned if you don't scenario. I think everyhting you said was perfectly valid, but then again, theres not alot of movies I like that I still can't accept that things could have been done differently. Its a discussion, but don't you get the feeling some people don't want to actually "discuss" anything unless you say what they want to hear? :lol

Should be right up your alley since you love the garbage FOX throws on the screen :lol

:goodpost:

Is it Weller from the original or have they just used sound FX to make the actor sound like Weller?

I don't think its Weller, but they sure seem to have gone out of their way to invoke that feeling, didn't they?

After seeing the trailer i think the makers reallise their monumental mistake's and have attempted to appease the fans into going with their Weller-esque impression of "Dead or Alive...you're coming with me!".

Obviously its the same quote but I didn't think he sounded like Weller at all. Unless there's a new clip you're talking about.

I don't think anybody actually read my original post before replying to it :slap

Snake Plissken was saying how the movie would be better if they had kept the original suit. To which I said, "Would that really make it better for you?", or words to that effect. Then I said how people complain if a remake or re-adaptation is too similar to an existing movie (some people complained that The Amazing Spider-Man was too similar to Spider-Man) and yet here we are with complaints that a movie is too different to an existing movie (RoboCop '14 and '87). And that, without a doubt is a 'damned if I do, damned if I don't' scenario if there ever was one. fans are in uproar if it's too similar, fans are in uproar if it's too different. That is all my post was saying, and I thought I put my point across quite clearly. I'm not sure what else you or Crows thought I was saying.

The only 'extremes' I'm seeing are the reactions of fans whenever a remake or readaptation of something they love comes along.

So yourself and Crows are not responding to what I'm saying at all. And, yes, I want to hear what people are saying, as long as their response actually addresses what I am saying, and not something they have fathomed themselves.

The chrome version could of made the film bearable at least. But the dual wielding bull **** has GOT to go.

I'm curious, do you genuinely think that would've made the film better for you? Because so many people complain when remakes or readaptations are too similar to a previous effort, yet here people seem to be critical of this film because it is trying to be different to the original film, and be it's own movie.

Seems like a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' scenario?

It still will be looked at as dog ****, but maybe not too such a degree it's at.

that is completely not the case.

Apart from your first sentence, it's a little hard to tell if you are agreeing with me or disagreeing with me here. Either way, I'm just pointing out how movies based on or influenced by a previous movie are judged somewhat unfairly in my opinion. And many people make their minds up about the quality of a film before even seeing it.

It's like;

too different = BAD
too similar = BAD
