Article on why only the 1st act is great, 2nd act is good and 3rd act ruins the movie.

Interesting read.

jye is that a threadcrappy article or just someone giving a well thought out commentary on why they liked the first two acts and not the third? I have to stay consistent man. :wink1:

Without clicking on the link I'm just going to go on record as saying that anyone who has any problem whatsoever with the third act is positively certifiable. With all due respect. :D

As for the main SW ladies no woman will ever touch Leia, ever. But Jyn gets a hell of an honorable mention. British accents = good. That said I can't believe that Disney cast their third British brunette in a row with Emilia Clarke. Even though I don't count the new Disney/Marvel comics as "canon" (official company line be damned) I actually do like the idea of Han dating a black woman before Leia. He seems cool like that. Oh well.

He's got some good points, Khev, but it's a painful article to read. Probably best to skip to the third act as DiFabio did. The writing and his monikers for different characters are tiresome (Donnie Yen, but then Gun Guy, Sassy Robot, Mads Daddy).

But really all he's doing is trying to take a movie he thought was okay or liked and trying to make it perfect by offering suggestions (some of which seem good and others off-base).

Jeez guys, who needs wikipedia and expanded universe when they got everyone in here masters of the force here, never a dull moment

Okay that doesn't sound too bad then.

I wonder if Baze's character might have been cooler as a chick. I know it'd be a Cameron-esque move to make the token heavy gunner a female but that might have been cool to have another gal on the team.

This passage was kind of funny. Talking about when Cassian shows up again and steals Jyn's moment with Krennic.

"Which makes it all the more ****** when he just shows up again for no reason. It's cheap because his return is not built on a moment of doubt about his character (Han Solo's return is the resurrection of a character conflict and makes us go "It's Han!!! He couldn't leave Luke!!!"). More importantly, his return does nothing for the conclusion of Jyn's story. Here is the guy who killed her mom! And sorta killed her father (actually the Rebels did that..... How is there not some deeper meaning here that finally connects her to a greater purpose? Instead, Cassian kills him. This would be like Han making the torpedo shot for Luke."

Based on some of the cut scenes It seems the original ending they got the data disc in one spot, and then had to run to bring them to the satellite dish to transmit them (as you see the satellite dish behind the walkers they're running toward). Feels like maybe they put them all in one locale for expediency but I wonder what else therefore changed along the way.

I skipped right to the part about how the 3rd act somehow ruined the movie. If he was honestly thinking all that while watching that incredible battle sequence then I just...I...I don't even...

Interesting article isn't it lol

I agree with the article... but still like the movie. Is that wrong?

/\ This /\

I figured it would be an interesting counter point to the most popular opinion on this movie which is slow build up to an incredible ending, some would even say that if not for that explosive and thrilling 3rd act the movie as a whole would've suffered.

He's simply saying that regardless of the thrills the 3rd act failed most of the characters arcs.

Certainly an interesting read....but I still love the movie.

Besides, my name is Lawrence and I was told to broaden my mind.

So does anyone wonder if Vader got his suit worn out and scratched up from that Rebel massacre scene since the way the ending goes right into the ANH chase and his suit is already scratched up in the beginning of ANH.

But they barely gave him a fight so it's confusing :dunno

It's uh, blaster dust, yeah! Like gun powder! That's it.

You can go through any type of mental gymnastics to make all the movies all fit. Fans have been doing this for decades. Sure, the complete puzzle is going to look like ass because of forced pieces going where they don't belong, but **** it, you finished that puzzle.

They'll probably make a comic book chronicling the events that transpired between the 5 mins of Rogue One and ANH. This has been going on since the 90s.
