Huh. No such response in my sole theatrical viewing. Though I didn't see it until it was already out a few weeks (there were still plenty of people in the theater).

Another thing that I thought would be kind of cringe-worthy, but surprisingly wasn't was Ghost Dog. He had the potential to ham it up in a Predators/Lawrence Fishburne kind of way, as the grizzled old nutcase, who somehow survived hiding from the bad guys for countless years because he was so nutty. But, I think he pulled his role off very well.

On a related note, I remember seeing him with close cropped hair in the trailer. Did he have that in the beginning of the movie? Or was a change made with the reshoots maybe? I was thinking about that in the theater.

He had it close-cropped when he and Jyn were younger. Then I think there was another scene of him/her young (from the trailer), the whole "what will you do when they catch you..." but that was cut. That was my impression anyhow.

Ok, now that everyone has watched RO one can appreciate this more, just go to the 48 second mark and laugh your ***** off:

Seriously it never gets old watching that.

Cushing goes from really scary to really funny and just look at Guiness during Chewbacca's arm lolz!

Man those troopers slipping on the floor, belt falling off, leg stuck on the door lol.

Funny stuff.

I bet none of the RO cast cracked a smile at their bloopers.

:lol :lol

It's amazing that anyone gave Lucas money for that stuff, just look at the insanity on display, those brits full of hate :lol

You can either look at that and say:

"What a miracle it was for the final product to have come out so great!"

or

"How could it not come out great just look at that insane creativity on display!"

The audience applauded the end of the movie during opening weekend, my second and third showings were one and three weeks later and the response was unsurprisingly more muted. Probably just a combination of people having already seen it and the newcomers not being as big a fans (like our buddy karamazov here.)

I really liked the moment between Chirrut Imwe and Jyn as they're flying away from Eadu. With clenched fists she begins to approach Cassian and Chirrut reaches out and grabs her wrist. You know based on the earlier exchange that Chirrut senses when someone is about to kill; he knew what she was thinking and more importantly she also knew that he knew. That gave her pause, she collected herself, but then still proceeded to have a heated conversation about the death of her father. Just a nice wordless moment leading up to that.

I also liked that the X-Wing bombing of Eadu was the one combat mission in the saga where we never got any cockpit shots of the pilots. Having the entire attack from the point of view of Jyn's team only helped sell the cold and clinical nature of the Rebel strike while also revealing how fearsome it would be to be on the receiving end of an X-Wing/Y-Wing attack.

Hoping to get a 3rd go at this over the weekend.

That will be a major record for me -- I can't remember the last movie that I saw 3 times in the theater. Might have been Revenge of the Sith (which was really two times because the projector lamp failed at the last 10 minutes of the movie in my second viewing prompting a third). Before that, I have to go all the way back to Jurassic Park to have viewed a movie more than twice in the theater in its initial run.

Not like the good old days -- saw the original Star Wars 30 times in the theater.

Yup, but then Cassian put her in her place rather quickly. :lol

And I really liked that he had ground to stand on to challenge her right back. Glad they didn't try to amplify her "leading lady badass" status by having her throw the guys around Ripley/Burke-style. Not knocking Ripley of course but it would have been a mistake to force moments like that with Jyn.

Hoping to get a 3rd go at this over the weekend.

It'd be your last opportunity to see it again on a large format screen since the Xander Cage movie will be taking over the weekend after that.

I want to see it on a very small screen, perhaps in black and white, with one speaker and someone eating loudly behind me. Just for a different experience.

I want a 9 year old kid to explain it to me while we play on a teeter totter to simulate how I first experienced Return of the Jedi.

:lol :lol

Actually, it probably will surpass 1B.

It needs 82 million.

Yeah, it will.

Carrie right now is laughing at us.

TFA 26 day total: 819 million
RO 26 day total: 481 million

It occurred to me that both Disney SW films end with a legacy character appearing in the last few seconds just so they can be handed something. :lol

So RO is clearly the New Hope prequel and no longer ROTS, although it still is?

James Cameron: "The way George Lucas utilized Tarkin, suited Darth Vader, and the Death Star at the end of ROTS was much more imaginative than RO. Having them all just standing there watching the toilets and air conditioning being installed was just brilliant."

I was so sick of not being part of the conversation that I just skipped 40 pages, hope I didnt miss anything good. You guys need to slow down, I just don't have the time to keep up.

Crazy that All of the top 5 movies are Disney movies, and will soon have 4 billion dollar earners under its belt for 2016.

I have done two viewings so far and will be saving my third for home, which will immediately be followed by Star Wars, can't wait to see how seamlessly they flow into eachother.

I watched ANH the day after I first saw RO. The two films flow together fantastically and I found that RO only enhanced my enjoyment of seeing Leia, Vader, Tarkin, and Red and Golder Leader in ANH.

I'll always love Ep. IV. Saw it when it was called "Star Wars". Heh, imagine that!
It's amazing how RO sparked even more of an interest and enjoyment of watching Ep IV. I also had to watch it again immediately.
They did a great job of tying them in together.

I too watched ANH after RO and the flow was smooth. Seeing the characters transition from movie to movie was great. One thing though is the CGI on the EE of ANH is TERRIBLE! It needs to be updated.
