Honestly there is so much of the OT and RO that gets a pass from me on account of it just being part of what I consider the "lovable absurdity" of Star Wars. And it really does come down to how you react to the execution. That's what makes any given scene endearing vs. eye-rolling or laughable. And nothing in the OT (okay maybe some of ROTJ) or RO really falls under the latter category IMO.

"Rebellions are built on hope," "Stardust," and all that are valid fodder for ridicule I suppose and if someone got hung up on those lines or moments I could understand where they are coming from even if for me the execution of those lines makes them totally work.

Yeah don't get me wrong it doesn't ruin or take anything away from the movie.

Even without makeup, Photoshop, or those britbong genes, I still would. I think she's cute.

Jye, be honest. Did you know what a cholo was before I used the word on here?

Oh and with regard to the discussion yesterday where someone mentioned that they ranked RO above ANH I can actually understand it being ranked that high or even as the top SW film of all looking at it from a strictly filmmaking perspective and not judging it on iconography, cultural and industry impact and so on. It really is that good. So much so that I consider SW, ESB, and RO to all be straight 10's to echo a certain director with a brightly colored shirt.

But I watched Harmy SW again last night and it really cemented that for me SW and ESB really are untouchable. With regard to excitement, visuals, cinematography, acting, and dialogue RO really does arguably trump SW. But nothing can really compare to the feeling I get when watching Han, Luke, Ben, and Chewie sitting in the cockpit of the Falcon, or Han and Leia bickering as they try to escape the Death Star, and so on. Those first two films are just SO transcendent and permanently embedded as works of cinematic perfection. Not to take anything away from RO, honestly RO is pretty much as good of a SW film as I could ever ask for, and it might even be the one I watch the most from here on out, but I foresee that it will forever be a very respectable #3 in the overall saga ranking.

:exactly: and I think it's hard to compare RO to ANH. The resources that Lucas had in the 70s, not to mention the budget to make ANH was very limited and not the true vision that Lucas wanted to achieve in his dream film. Also there was no SW lore established yet to work with back in 1977

Fast forward to now with the a huge juggernaut in Disney with many resources, technology and budgeting to make RO very unique. And there was so much SW lore over the years that they had the power to be really creative

IMO it doesn't seem right to compare the two films..different times

The food at home is absolutely amazing.

She makes an amazing ceviche de adamantium and phoenix tuna.

Although her sabertooth steak needs a little work.

How do y'all display-sort your dvds at home on the shelf?

Alpha

I'm trying to figure out if I should place RO before or after the OT.

Technically the story takes place before ANH but if I place it before the OT am I saying that it's superior to the OT.

Damn this is a hard one.

DiFabio, did you buy RO?

Tell the truth or else you'll be dealing with Wor-Gullet!

I display mine by series and in sequential order. So having RO before the OT doesn't make it superior in my house. :D

I do own the PT/OT SE box set but that is shamed on a shelf in my bedroom closet and is not worthy of display with my main movies. :lol
