I'm not sure if this is what you're referring to, but there's this:

It has a couple good looks at some new troopers & characters.

I saw that on ABC last night. I am referring to an actual trailer with Darth Vader in it. I read somewhere they were to show one.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

Something else from SWCE. The Death Star was actually the "brainchild" of the Trade Federation.

Rather than a conspiracy theory that they're distancing themselves from the PT, I'll just put it down to incorrect use of the word.

I thought that all we knew from the prequels is that the Geonosians were in possession of the plans. If memory serves the only dialogue is something like "what we're planning to build." Is there something I'm forgetting?

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

I thought it was pretty clear that the Death Star was an evolution of the Trade Federation battleships first seen in Ep I.

Tarkin might be "project manager" of the Death Star, but he didn't conceive it.

Of course it might be revealed Tarkin was working for the Trade Federation all along, but that seems a little overcomplicated. More likely they mean it was his idea to use the Death Star to "rule by fear".

I didn't get that at all. Because it's round? The TF ship seemed to be more of an aircraft carrier than a battleship. The Death Star blows up planets.

Yes, because it's round. The Trade Federation ships were basically Death Stars with rings around them. Then in Ep II we see them without the rings.

And several of the ship designs that evolve from the PT to the OT have different functions, eg Jedi Starfighter -> Imperial Stardestroyer.

Still seems like a reach to me. Yeah, they're round. :dunno

We see actual Star Destroyers in the PT that evolve into the the OT Star Destroyers. I never thought the AOTC Jedi Fighters were the inspiration for Star Destroyers just because they were triangular. :peace

I would have to agree with Prime, as much as I despise the PT, it is what it is.

Poorly made they (mostly) might be, but I do love the premise of dividing and conquering the galaxy, then picking up the best military technology from both sides!

Yeah, that's either a very poor choice of words or evidence that they're phasing out the PT...

Since LFL made clear the PT is canon, I think it's just a misuse of the word (or written by someone unfamiliar with the PT!)

I remember Lucas confirming it back in the day. They're more wedge-like in AOTC and then pick up some TIE-like elements in ROTS.

Eh, you do see Tarkin at the end of Revenge of the Sith surveying the progress of the Death Star along with Palps and Vader.

Those geonosian plans that Dooku stole look like a stolen blue print of an identical Death Star, but that doesn't mean it can't fit. All the Star Wars movies are contradictory with each other.

Oh yeah, they we there.
When Solo chased those troopers down the hall on the Death Star in the special ed. they were standing in the back of the room.

I dare you to say where they are...

Are people still bitching that they are not limiting themselves to what was ONLY shown in the first 3 movies? no offense, but most of us want cool, new designs...

And most of us cling to the EU, but oh.. wait...

But it seems forced and a ploy to crank out more merchandise.
Reef troopers... really?

Those spec ops Black Death troopers look cool and seem to have a legit purpose though.

I thought we already had Spec Ops

In all honesty... Disney is ****ing up continuity more than a drunk Bryan Singer.

God sake, they decided to put Thrawn in the kids Rebels than have him bask in his glorious on big screen. I don't trust Disney with the Star Wars license as much I trust Hillary with Classified information. Hell by December they'll both claim negligence on wrong doings.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

Tarkin probably just oversaw the whole project. The actual designers never get credit. Steve jobs didn't make the iphone either. He thought it up and then had a team of engineers make it a reality. The showman gets the credit, never the workers. Plus the Empire stemmed from the Republic which was at war with the Trade Federation.. When Palps became Emperor he took over and I'm sure no one ever new he was secretly in league with Dooku and the trade federation the whole time. Dooku didn't steal the plans, Geonosis was designing it for him to help rule the galaxy for when the war was over since he assured them they were gonna win due to his Lord Sidious' force insight (lies and manipulation of course). I'm sure they thought they were designing it for themselves as much as for Dooku.... Politics :lol

Ha! Not incorrect use of the word. Original intent... before the dark times.

I told you it was Tarkin's creation... well, I had a debate with a few (PT lovers) long time ago -- likely weejedi -- about this old fact from my understanding of Star Wars from 1977... and the EU had since muddled that all up.

So I'm glad they've gone back to the original canon.

All this Tarkin talk makes me really want a HT figure of him. I'll be so cool seeing again interacting with Krennic.
