Interesting point, yes much has changed since '77. And Stormtroopers have gone from regular recruits to clones and back again. But since we've now seen the origin of the Death Star in the canon AOTC they can't really go back on that.

Really praying if this movie isn't great and does nothing to elevate the franchise, at least we got a crack at a 1/6th Tarkin figure from HT, Sideshow or somebody.

Whoa! Hard to find fellow Sw fans who cling to the EU as much as I do!
Disney and their "Lucasfilm Story Group" simply don't understand what the people want and throw their famous characters to the way side for the sake of "new content". I'm not sure what Del Toro is playing in EPVIII, but how unique is a blue-skinned, red-eyed alien in a white uniform?
P.S. I also hate Bryan Singer!

That's another thing. Twenty-two years for the first Death Star to become operational. When did they start building the second? Was it just that much faster because of what they'd learnt with the first?

Probably some segue into the original Star Wars... maybe they're captured at the end just after sending the transmission to the Tantive IV?
Is it that close to the OT though? I thought I heard it's about the people who steal the Death Star plans, and the Death Star is complete on the poster, so I assume it's got to be pretty close to the original film.
