Not surprising. They're trying hard to differentiate the "story" films from the "main" episodes (down to removing "Star Wars" from the front of the title).

Probably some segue into the original Star Wars... maybe they're captured at the end just after sending the transmission to the Tantive IV?

Is it that close to the OT though? I thought I heard it's about the people who steal the Death Star plans, and the Death Star is complete on the poster, so I assume it's got to be pretty close to the original film.

I think that's a good guess for the ending.

Personally, not a fan of the need to make everything fit in a nice, tidy package. Life aint like that, so why should the movies?

And no crawl = HUGE MISTAKE. Why separate your non-Star Wars movie from one of the most iconic things in SW? Don't spend $4 BILLION on something, then proceed to remove elements that make it what it is; I dunno, maybe Kathleen Kennedy is the wrong person for the job

I think the idea is to reserve the crawl for the episodic story.

You guys get so hung up on the small details.
No fanfare = no big deal
The crawl is iconic, sure, but if the story is great, not sure I'd care. I mean when you sit at home and think of the movie, do you imagine words on a screen or scenes from the film? All things being equal, I'd keep it, but it won't tick me off if it's not there.

I popped into celebration London at weekend, the Rogue One stuff was so ****ing dull. The troopers were ok but looked like they were mashed together from parts from a cosplay factory. The main actors outfits were absolute ****e, no one was even bothering taking pics of them. Boring. The model ships were what looked like crude 3D prints. Director's new shuttle/Kylo ship was a nice design but again So badly presented. C'mon Disney put more effort into these things.
The droid builders area was the highlight of the entire show.
And it was so ****ing hot, sweaty cod pieces everywhere.

I remember everyone getting excited and shouting when they heard Darth Vader breathing in the teaser trailers for 2001 and 2004 too. Good times.

Now just show me CGI Tarkin damnit.

I actually think the alien and droid designs are better than the ones from TFA.

I don't think this movie will let me down like TFA did.

Yeah, I found the ship designs for TFA felt a little uninspired. Nothing that really sticks with you like the Falcon, X-Wing, Ties, Y-Wing or even Slave 1.
