Exactly right! In no way did Goku throw the fight. He was competitive in the respect that he fought at maximum capacity, within Vegeta's pay-grade. I'd categorize that as being more of a handicap rather than a thrown bout, myself. Matching Vegeta's power level made for a much more realistic representation of combative prowess, as they each posses they same physical capabilities. I wouldn't say Goku was overpowered per se, more like Goku's one continual weakness, his uncompromising goodness. Vegeta fought like a warrior, devoid of emotion, except maybe rage.

@SupernaturalAddict That was a great analysis and I agree with you! I don't have a problem with what Goku did, and I always thought he had pure intentions. I never believed Goku threw the fight, and tried to defend that multiple times last year, and once in the beginning of this year, but I gave up, when that was brought up. I love the Goku vs Majin Vegeta fight!

guys seriously, it's just the flash that makes it look cheap. never use flash unless you can control it by aiming the flash up so light falls softly on the figure but still avoid it at all costs.

Which brings me to another misconception; why is it that SS2 Vegeta was able to dominate an out of control Kid Buu in a valiant last ditch effort, where SS 3 Goku, a physically superior transformation, failed before him? Simple, Vegeta is a battle-hardened veteran warrior and clinical tactician, whereas Goku is not. Goku's advantage has always been physical superiority, however, Vegeta is a much more accomplished and skilled combatant.

So Supreme Kai's line in the anime that kid buu is his strongest form is either a mistranslation or not from the manga at all? Because if that can't be proven, then I see no reason not to believe him.

Secondly, the part I quoted above is, imo, a vegeta fanboy-ism. Have you watched Dragonball? Goku is an expert martial artist and warrior in every way. He's simply more compassionate than Vegeta is. I chalk it up to Vegeta's pure relentless resolve that he holds out against kid buu. But mostly, the buu saga is just a load of badly, inconsistent and on the fly written stuff.

Also, I get that Goku couldn't go ssj3 against vegeta as I already made that ppint myself, but the very simple fact is that he was way stronger than vegetal and that makes the fight, the fight vegeta wanted, one where they both truly max out, a FLUKE. A joke. Vegeta's 100% in the right to feel humiliated, and I feel Toriyama actually humiliated him probably intentionally.

Yes, Vegeta's mostly a **** if not an evil *******, but regardless of that the buu fight between them has no appeal whatsoever to me because it is not a fight like it was in the saiyan saga or goku vs frieza, or goku vs piccolo at the end of DB. It's constrained and not maxed out on both sides. Vegeta cheated, and goku held back. It's a load of rubbish from a pure fight pov.

Oh and if anybody actually has words from toiyama himself about it to correct me, or manga dialog, I'll gladly hear about it.

I have to correct myself on one thing: if it's true that in terms of power kid buu is as strong as fat buu, then vegetal holding out against him isn't inconsistent imo, it'd more be goku ssj3 not being able to beat him.

To summarise, if it's true kid buu is weaker then the inconsistency regarding him is debunked for me.

But regarding the fight between goku and vegeta, that has no appeal to me. It never had much because I still feel vegeta just cheated, but realising goku couldn't max out makes it even more dumb imo.

...then Goten and Kid Trunks came along and it got reduced to a child's plaything as Vegeta said. Surprising at first, but kinda ruined. I wonder, anyone think Trunks and Goten being able to go Super Saiyan would have worked if they could only do it as Gotenks? Would have still had the special feeling, and probably show off strong Gotenks is; they'd probably be able to go Super Saiyan normally afterward. SSJ3 I like for the transformation part alone, that was what got me into DBZ in the first and still delivers to me every time. But the look...ehh, I'm...ok, I guess.
This is very true, and I've noticed and appreciated it as well. Buu Saga is probably the age of fusion fighting though, but I just wish fusion was better utilized.
Ehh, in some ways it is, in some it isn't in my opinion. Goku dying and never returning, Vegeta swearing off fighting and not having a proper way to end his rivalry with Goku, and Gohan not getting the true peace he wanted (since his father was dead) makes it a little tragic; the Buu saga ended things on a pretty peaceful note in my opinion since Gohan finally became the scholar he wanted and started his own family, Vegeta and Goku were friendly rivals, Vegeta was able to make amends with his family and Goku as well. In a sense, Kid Trunks was also able to live his life the way his alternate future counterpart would have wanted. The Buu Saga is still very flawed for DBZ but I like it for the ending, since it's on a happy note fitting for DBZ and there's no looose ends. The Cell Saga was great but the ending is sort of a downer

It's fine if you like it, I don't mind that. I just never cared for the design enough to buy a Figuart of it.
