If you think the writers for the faulconer score (which in a lot of cases wasn't faulconer himself by the way) wrote without respect for the material, you're being a biased idiot. Themes like the spirit bomb theme, piccolo's theme, the ssj3 goku theme, Vegeta's theme etc are pieces written by writers who clearly appreciated what they wrote for. They brought a lot of heart to it that's gives me goosebumps to this day. It's just a different style of expression. If you can't hear that, sad day for you.

You can hate whatever you like, but claiming the music writers for the faulconer score were disrespectful to the property is a load of snobby BS – and I reiterate the man faulconer took credit foor music that was mostly written by multiple different other people. Also, the japanese score was for japanese orchestral music more generic than the faulconer score was for western music at it's time. You're clearly just ranting from a biased pov, rather than making a distinction between assessing something and your own feelings toward what you're assesing.

When it comes to Japanese vs English debates in anime, I find there's always gonna be bias depending on one's home country and original viewing of said anime. Everytime, it seems to boil down to Japanese is better cuz it's the original or cuz it's older or some crap like that. I like to see as many things as unbiasly as possible. Even if I were Japanese, I would still stay the Funi dub, in music AND voice acting is superior. It's not like the mouth animations don't line up or anything, it's simply a different language being used instead of the Japanese. This is talking strictly DBZ and not for any other anime. Other animes may have the edge up in Japanese, but imo, DBZ is not one of them.

@prod You really know how to invest your 1000$ there.:lol

I don't think it's necessary to claim any dub as superior personally. I don't see the need. I will however defend what I like if its under attack from arguments that don't hold up.

Also fun fact, I know a LOT of hardcore anime fans, don't come at them with dubs... except DBZ. DBZ isn't even that beloved in japan. Sure it's a classic, but dbz isn't some anime holy grail in general. It is much more in the west because it managed to open up anime in the west. Many lauded anime scores are much more like say a hans zimmer or choir heavy or band music focussed, than the traditional orchestral scores. As well as a lot of synth. EDIT: Hell, the Wachowski's got a lot of inspiration from anime for the cool, techno/orchestral hybrid sound for the matrix. If anything, japanese anime contributed to hybrid scores for entertainment in the west.

I genuinely don't care or mind people who don't like the western dub of dbz, AT ALL, and I don't think it's necessary to proclaim any of the dubs as superior to another. But some DBZ OG dub snobby purists really need to step off what they think is a high ground where every 'descent person who respects anime' joins them. It's simply nonsense and it just insults others both unnecessarily but much more importantly, unwarranted.

I don't get why people can't just deal with different versions of things. Same with comics. Already people pit every god damn ****ing thing against each other. Now all the nolan haters come out the woodwork. It's all so pathetic. Spare your hate for people who're genuine *******s. There's enough of those in the world.

The battle of the Gods score was the same for japanese and english dubs was it not? So electric guitars, synths and dramatic music are out of place for dbz? Than why the **** did the OG JAPANESE people put them in the battle of gods ost? Hm?

"It doesn't fit the franchise." Right.

Just got out of RoF. SOO MANY people goku and dbz wearing shirts. Luckily mine was unique and not like the others. Also found out the AoT movie could be coming to the U.S. this year!

@Sil, I don't like to put forth absolutes either in regards to which is the superior dub, hence the "imo" in my post. I can accept others opinions even if they're wrong :lol I kid, I kid! At the end of the day, it's just opinions but I like to base my opinions as unbiasly as possible and with as many facts that can support it. I personally think the Funi is the better dub, others can disagree, that's fine, it's a free world! It's just that if suddenly they decided to remake DBZ (again) and they were able to top Funi's, I'd be open to changing my opinion. Some people hold onto their positions and no matter what they are confronted with, they will not change their minds.

In regards to the anime dub debate, just cuz it's the original, doesn't mean it's the best. I see this with music and how some people can hear a cover of a song performed by another artist and automatically say it's not as good as the original JUST because it's not the original. Listen to it objectively and form an opinion based on what really is true. I try to not let nostalgia cloud my judgement. That being said, I'm curious to why some say the Japanese version is better. If you're gonna call something better than something else, there has to be a good argument for it. I've yet to see one thus far.

Edit: Actually, scratch my last sentence, this debate is getting old lol. Let's just accept, some of us have differing opinions and leave it at that.

The funi scripts were atrocious. I'm not a fan of so many things funi did to dbz. I mean, the series was already filled with cliches, tired tropes, and outdated jokes, but once the neaderthals at funi got their meaty paws on it it grew to all new levels of bad. But, I grew up with it, so it's the version I find most familiar.

I personally have always found the heavy metal used in some of the english dubs of a few of the movies off-putting.

I shut the TV off when I was watching the Broly movie & suddenly I hear The Deftones in the background
(i like the deftones, but not with dbz)

I started with the funimation dubs and remember the falconer score clearly. I adore the original kai OST simply because...I do. It's classic and retro, quirky and memorable, and has some great musicianship. I love listening to it. That's all.

I'll definitely give you that one. The movies and their nu-metal songs playing in the background didn't really fit in. Especially in the Broly movie. Songs with lyrics and singing are tricky to put into an anime unless it's a Japanese song. Those just seem to work. American songs not so much.

Now I'm willing to debate with people in a respectful manner, but the fact that you felt the need to start with the name calling, shows how much of a condescending bastard you are that you are getting so worked up over my opinion. I never talked down to prodigy at all in my retort, I stated that I disagreed, and explained why from my point of view. On the other hand, you resort to name calling, and berate me for why I dislike that particular score. For being one of the senior members on this board, you are a piss poor example on how to conduct yourself when debating your point of view.

@blood, or anyone for that matter

this just popped in my head, a hypothetical situation.. lets say Tamashii contacted you & offered to personally sell you & only you their one & only Nappa prototype. How much would you be willing to pay for it, what would be your top dollar offer, knowing that you'd be the only 1 that has it?
$9001 :lecture though I worry blood may kill me...

as for what Silrian said, agreed, especially on the dubs. DBZ's Japanese voices imo were bad...they didn't fit at all. I usually prefer Japanese dubs cause sometimes the music doesn't work, the English voices are bad and don't fit (Kero in Card Captor Sakura had a deep voice in the English dub...he's a freaking lion plush!) or something. Sometimes the English dub does work, like DBZ, Evangelion and Madoka Magica, but other times like Attack on Titan (for the most part) and Sailor Moon, it's bad.

I also agree with FatHotei about the movies and their heavy metal...it's odd. Especially since I saw the Super Android 13 and it used the Funi music (at least the one I watched), so,w hat the hell? The DBZ movies generally have a lot of issues though, specially with continuity...

1 I don't really consider the word idiot (strong) name calling. It basically is just an impolite way of saying someone made a mistake to me. Idiot is not a strong word and it's not even a curse word, to just focus on that one word and not address anything else I said is a cop out. I think it might be the first and strongest word I've ever used here against someone (at the very least when not responding to someone who started attacking me first) and I've had plenty of pretty heated debates here. What can I say? I'm human too. Sometimes I slip into a bit of impoliteness too. To judge my entire conduct on this forum based on a one time use of the word 'idiot', amongst what are otherwise entirely polite posts is ridiculous and warrants none of your hyperbolic insults. If you judge someone's entire presence that harshly, you better come up with some more than 'He called me an idiot once! [for having said something that is both disrespectful as well as untrue]What a condescending bastard and a pisspoor example of conduct!'. Right...

2 You don't seem to understand why I said it in the first place. I didn't say you were attacking prodigy, you said and I quote: "The one major thing to come out of the creation of Kai was the chance they had to re-dub the series, and stick with a accurate script, and stay with the original score. I'm so glad they treat the series with the respect it deserves, (...)." This directly implies that you think the scorewriters of the faulconer group did NOT give the material the respect it deserves. I think this is objectively not true, and is something that is said by someone who is both biased and mistaken. In the heat of the moment I called you an idiot for it. Boo-hoo. What gut-wrenching personal attack that was. In you're comment you're not just giving an opinion, you're attacking the artistic integrity of the score writers and I took it upon myself to call you out on that in an, indeed, impolite way. Which I extremely rarely resort to and ANYONE following this board can attest to that. Why? Because I felt like it after you just completely slaughtered the score and then proceed to insult the writers themselves. (Regarding the actual script dub, that's a different matter. I can understand one feels it's disrespectful to outright change dialogue while translating.)

Having made myself clear now hopefully, you can either actually reply to the content of my commets. Or you can sit there and moan about the fact that you happened to be that one person who I once caved in my politeness for and called 'an idiot' (for imo a good reason). If you care about conduct and arguments, let's see an actual response with content please, instead of a hyperbolic personal attack.

Hey guys and ladies!
Sorry I haven't been on much, I've been busy with work at my own up and coming company, Team Noble Productions, at this time and boy, Production is hard trying to start up own on manga and Let's Play series.

Asude from that, nan! 2015 has been the year for S.H. Figuarts, we're getting a New Vegeta and Trunks, Beerus the Destroyer in the future as well as Jaco and Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta. They're definitely on my too buy list.

I was able to buy SDCC 2015 Son Goku and he's easily my favorite in the line though, I believe Awakening Super Saiyan Son Goku is going to be my ALL TIME Favorite. His overall look brings tears of joy to my eyes. It's a piece of art.

Also, I finally got my hands on Trunks and the authentic Super Saiyan Vegeta thanks to my older brother, who also told me he preordered Ultimate Gohan, Golden Frieza, Super Saiyan God SS Goku, Premium Vegeta, and Awakening Goku. Mostly he'll give them to me at Christmas time and I'm really excited for it so I'm buying him a S.H. Monsterart Godzilla 1st Release.

How have things been with you all? Also have a small request for anyone. Could someone do a head swap. Between SDCC Super Saiyan Goku and SDCC Frieza Saga Goku?

If you think the writers for the faulconer score (which in a lot of cases wasn't faulconer himself by the way) wrote without respect for the material, you're being a biased idiot.

Also note that firstly I said "IF YOU THINK". I was even phrasing that purposefully hypothetically. If I took you the wrong way, you could've simply said 'you took me the wrong way' and my own comment would already imply I don't think you're being an idiot anymore. That's the use of careful phrasing.

Secondly, i used the word 'being' purposefully, because it means one instance of behavior, rather than who someone IS in general.

I did NOT state you ARE an idiot without concern for anything else you have to say. If you'd taken the nuance of phrasing into account you could've either dismissed my hypothesis, or explain why it's incorrect. But you do neither, you just make a much harshers personal attack that clearly is NOT meant hypothetically, and proceed to ignore all other things I've said. And you're calling me out on my entire conduct on a forum!?

I believe somebody posted one a while back but here's another. Please forgive me for it being rotated. I don't know why this happens to all the pics I post here that are in portrait orientation.

Definitely kicking myself in the butt for not being able to get the SDCC SSj Goku. Man that is such a beauty itself .

I hope they go back to the sculpted eyes on these . The new gogeta didn't have them sculpted and I think it suffered because of it.
