Hadn't seen that in Kai yet, and once again my belief is solidified I'll never have to watch Kai. Can't believe they changed the one line that really got to me into cliche name calling. Also, "I will make you suffer?" that's not something the Goku I know would say... Not to mention the lack of the funimation score. For reference:

But whatever one prefers... I do agree however that there's no ssj(1) transformation as good as this one.

The Goku you know is watered down he's not like that in the manga .

That's too bad... for the manga. I always liked about Goku that he's utterly not revengeful. Plus 'I won't let you get away with this." just gets to me so much more. It speaks of the fact that you get to ssj by a lack of acceptance of powerlessness. At least in Goku's case. I guess Vegeta's was different, though not even entirely.

But freiza jut killed Krillin there why wouldn't he be revengeful?

Simple, because Goku's better then that. I'll accept that I have a westernised notion of Goku, but to me he should be like Superman or Batman, he only kills out of immediate necessity. That's the Goku I love anyway.

(Sorry for my edits of posts I get that's annoying. Also I didn't and still don't mean to start an argument over this, I was just shocked by how much I disliked this specific scene in the Kai version.)

No agruement I get your use to that version but Goku will kill when he has too he's a saiyan after all . I grow up watching both the fun dub which was okay till I saw the *** version which wasn't watered down.

I just said it in case you felt attacked, which isn't my intention.:) I mean, I don't wanna claim any form of superiority for anything, just expressing my opinion on characters as I like to see them.

I'm pretty sure that if Kai had aired back then, or the original Japanese version, I wouldn't have been nearly as much, or in the latter case even at all a DBZ fan. At least that's what seems to be the case the more I find out about differences between those mentioned and the Ocean/Funi dubs.

I'm quite specifically just a fan of the O/F dubs so it's a weird situation with this series in my case. It's probably why I don't really care for the movies either (which I did see as a kid so the argument of nostalgia doesn't add up there). I probably should just let the matter rest with that at least on my part.

What matters is I agree with you no ssj transformation impressed me as much as the first one.:)

Agreed best transformation has so much meaning to it .

I also kinda like that Gohan witnesses it but is afraid. It adds to the fact that even he doesn't recognise his own father at that point. (Although let's face it, he doesn't see him all that much anyway.XD) Equally it felt fitting Vegeta reached his ssj level alone.

The one SSJ transformation that was a little underwhelming for me was Gohan's, because he's with goku in the HTC and I know Goku pushes him, but still there's no real threat there. Luckily, his SSJ2 makes more than up for it, and that probably still ends up as my favourite moment in the entire series. I'll have to put Goku's SSJ1 transformation on an overshadowed 2 on that list if we're counting levels beyond SSJ as well.

EDIT: actually I don't know. I can't rank them to be honest. Goku's 1 and Gohan's 2 are equally awesome in their own right for me.

For any Comcast users, they have some episodes of DBZ On Demand now. In the Kids section, select Kabillion. They just put a new episode up today, so it seems they will add a new one each week. Crazy this show is still on air.

Is it actually said in the Japanese show or Manga that Vegeta gets a power boost from Majin? Because in the Funi dub all I remember him saying was that he'd felt he lost his edge since he started a family and cared for them, and that Majin simply eliminated those cares and brought him back to the mindset of being the ruthless warrior he was before.

Either way, I feel he definitely achieved SS2 on his own prior to that. He reached his ascended Super Saiyan form within a year of training in the time chamber without any prior knowledge of there even being a higher form of SS, so I have to imagine in the 7 years that passed in which he knew about SS2 he'd have strived for it and gotten there on his own. Nothing about his demeanor suggested he wouldn't have achieved it. Why would he have entered the tournament and seemed so confident knowing that Gohan is SS2, and likely Goku as well, if he hadn't also reached that level? Why would he look down on Gohan for getting weaker if he wasn't at least as strong as SS2 Gohan? You don't make fun of someone for having a crappy car when all you have is a bicycle.

If we're gonna talk about cheating Goku and Gohan had their fair share of help. Goku was nowhere near Vegeta's level until he had otherworldly training from King Kai, which gave him the Spirit Bomb and Kaio-Ken. He also achieved SS2 and 3 from otherworldly training, and when it came time to use SS3 with his living body he couldn't handle it. Gohan had power literally handed to him without having to lift a finger twice. First by Guru, then by Old Kai. He also had a lot of help with his training. As the future timeline tells us he only reached SS2 because he had Goku to hold his hand through the process.

Majin boosted Vegeta to Goku's level or slightly above, but without a doubt he achieved SS2 prior to the Majin Buu saga. You can't just jump a SS level without the emotional distress trigger.

I also just scored my 2nd SDCC Gohan so I can display in both SS levels. I might flip all my Manga versions since they are obsolete now.

These conversations got me thinking, since vegeta doesnt rule out cheating his way to greater power in order to exceed goku, why cant he just stock up on sentou beans and ask trunks to blast him to near death, eat those beans and repeat.

Lol this. He tried doing that against freeza
