Also, while we're on the topic of power – and my sig should attest to the fact I far from carry ill bias towards DC's champ – but no way in hell would a canon Superman beat ssj3 Goku.

I just think it looks silly, lol. SSJ God is much cooler to me personally. I like the Bruce Lee aspect it has to it. The emphasis on strength from muscle density, technique, etc and not muscle volume. SSJ2 is my favorite of all of the SSJ transformations though.

Sounds like I like ssj God too, but, as Krec9 said a while back, this color combo is just awful imo.

The color combo could be improved, but it doesn't bother me. Rather than get an SDCC repaint I really think an all new figure is needed. Aside from the body being leaner, the hair does rise up slightly. Plus it would be nice to get a few more base Goku faces packed in as extras.

While I do like the SSJ3 transformation, I agree with that aspect of the SSJ God form. I didn't like the SSJ3 look at all the first time I saw Dragonball Z. I thought it looked really ridiculous. But obviously, now, it's grown on me. It's something weird and primal that only Goku would come up with, training in the Other World. I love it because of that reason. I really like the alterations Sean Schemmel made with not only with his voice, but attitude.

The only thing I don't like is the whole Dragon Fist thing, but hopefully it will grow on me.

Dragon Fist is basically the SSJ version of Penetrate

Sean Schemmel dude <3, doesn't matter what you show me, what you tell me, when I hear that guy, I hear Goku. He's like Kevin Conroy's Batman and Mark Meer's Shepard for me. When I hear any of those three voices, I know the man of the hour has arrived. Effin heroic brilliance.

And if the series continued, I guarantee someone, perhaps Chi Chi would call him out on that. It seems like something the writers would do. I like how it is. I don't mind that his GOD form wasn't convenient to a certain sense of fashion.

I like SSJ3 more than I did when I first saw it years ago, but I still don't care for it much. lol. Despite the hair being silly, I do like how it reminds me of Raditz. :)

~~~~~SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN BATTLE OF GODS~~~~~
If DBZ continued, and it would be silly not to at this point. Why go through all of this not to do more? Anyway. If it does continue, Goku should be able to go SSJ God again, because he drew the power inside of himself and then was able to transform into a second time. So I believe he can do again, and just needs to master it.
They really nailed it casting wise! I just watched all the movies in Japanese and I think the acting is far better. Not to say they are far better actors. I wish the Funimation actors were given similar dialogue and directed to not play it over the top so much, because we know they can pull back. I said it here on how much I hated the Broly movie. After watching Battle of Gods in Japanese, I decided to check out the Broly movie in Japanese. It bugged me, why I can't see why so many people like him. I already really didn't like the movie, and despised Broly, so I figured why not take a shot? Now I really like it. Still had all the problems with that ridiculous origin, but I'm finally able to ignore it, and formulate my own, and enjoy it from there. After that, I really started to like the the Japanese voices better. The voices seem to fit better.
However, with Goku, like you said, Sean Schemmel is Goku. Not only does he sound like a guy, but he brings such much variation to the role. Whatever you think about GT, Sean really impressed me with what he did for SSJ4 Goku.
How do you guys put youtube videos in? I was going to post the transformation of Trunks in Japanese if people wanted to see the difference, but I don't know how.
Here's the link at least:
I'm just talking about the movies, being that I haven't watched the series in Japanese. I wish they would re-release the Dragon Boxes so I could get it though.
Very true but if they continued they need to power up some character's or de-power the stronger guys i don't want piccolo just standing there .
Yeah, I agree. I'm sure they'll find a way to continue to power up the other characters to keep things proportionate. There seems to be a pretty standard power set that each character has and everyone finds ways to power up when the others do.
Regarding the dubs, Bane, here's what I'd like to say about the whole thing in general which so often comes up with DBZ (and anyone please ignore this whole post if dub-talk bores you):
I personally have zero interest in the japanese dub. Now I've thought about why this is the case, because I'm usually fond of Japanese culture. It's not a matter of what's better, or some moral high ground of original creative vision and it's not some competition to me either, it's the simple fact that japanese (people) is just really really different from English (people). Japanese people sound different, the style and intonation is very different, and that's just a fact. The Dub is just an audible component of two very different cultures and people. One culture of which I share, and the other I don't, or well exceedingly less to the point I'd call one native to me and the other foreign. Neither is worse or better (that'd actually be a weird shade of racism to even say one is better than the other). It's just that one feels like specifically MY culture, and the other doesn't.
DBZ has just become an odd foster child of the west for me because of both the dub and the score, which made me experience it as largely native and I know that might be really annoying or even blatantly wrong to fans of the show in it's japanese glory, maybe one could argue it is wrong, but that won't change things now. It's a historical course of events. I'll never watch Pokemon in Japanese either. I LOVE anime in it's japanese glory, but that's when I actually feel like watching anime, when I feel like taking in the rich and great feel of japanese cultural export, which is a specific mood I have to be in (it's not my baseline mood, I can't help being a white guy from west Europe). Believe it or not, DBZ doesn't fall in that mood-category for me and I actually don't experience it much as anime tbh. Because of history, I don't associate DBZ with 100% japanese culture, there's a percentage of 'westerness' that became inherent to what DBZ is for me. If I'd be ignorant of DBZ's origins, didn't know there was a japanese dub, and somebody told me it was a western show based on the anime style and inspired by Japanese culture, that ignorant version of me would believe it.
So, with respect, trying to convince me of japanese dubs is time wasted, not because I think they're bad or because I'm a xenophobe, at all, but because I specifically want the cultural aspect that I can directly personally relate with present in this show. I understand you made a general remark Bane, not saying you posted it for me, but I just took the occasion to speak my mind, assuming I can just refrain from commenting on it in the future. Probably like you, this type of thing can just intrigue me and I get an urge to fully understand what it is.
So if anybody feels the same way, I hope I articulated it decently. If not, well then as the avatar I sport has put it many times "I should go".
Actually, there's a funny counterexample to my stance on DBZ: I'm really inclined to go back and watch the Super Sentai MMPR was based on. Anybody here happen to see that? I saw the Red-Green ranger duel between Geki and Burai (I believe?) and loved it.
