Although, it doesn't make sense why an anime release would be the "bonus". A very very expensive bonus! It's not helpful to them, when, in my opinion, their market is mostly made up of fans of the anime.

I think if they changed the look like a SSJG Goku would be what does it, or a different look like Namek saga outfit, that would set the precedent, but otherwise I don't see it taking up a slot, more of a bonus. [...] I don't even know if they planned to have any exclusives after Goku, more of it being a situation of Goku is the most popular character, lets get more people excited about the line, by showing him in a more familiar look. They haven't even said they will continuously make SDCC exclusives. I think some people are just feeling entitled to it.

It's kind of like giving a hungry stranger a tuna sandwich, and they get upset why you didn't give the a chicken sandwich.

I don't feel entitled to anything personally, it's business, but I do think they'll continue with sdcc exclusives, because they sold pretty well so far I believe and it is good marketing for the line I think.

Maybe we'll never get anything but repaints and if there's nothing to repaint we get nothing.:dunno

Oh I hope you didn't think I was saying that about you. The entitlement problem, isn't something new. Look at something like Twitter. People get the opportunity to follow celebrities and get to interact with them. However, instead of using that chance to maybe thank them, a lot of people use it as a chance to threaten, insult them, and belittle their work. You're a gamer, so I you're probably aware of the Game of the Year situation. People feel entitled to the extra content and reduced prices, because people that waited almost a year got it. They ignore the fact that they got the game almost a year earlier. I'm going to buy Arkham Origins on release for $60, and I know it's going to be $30 or $35 in month on Black Friday. I also know there's going to be a GOTY edition next year. There's a precedent that's been set! And if it doesn't turn out that way, no one said it was going to happen, but it makes sense why we would assume it.

Let's just enjoy the ride and hope for the best!

A problem, I'm seeing here is, why can't someone want multiple figures of a character, without getting criticized for it. Someone might have Pan's GT look when she's a kid and when she's a grandma as their most wanted. It's what they want. We can speculate if it's a possibility though! Or tease the person, but just be respectful.

I didn't take it personally Bane.:) I actually don't know the GotY situation, I don't follow much gamer news except existing franchises I like (aren't that many either). I agree on your twitter example. There are rarely cases where I think someone is entitled to something, the main exception being if you advertise X and give Y, that's screwing people. But I don't think that's the case with GotY editions. Don't have any problem with them. Only problem I could've had two years ago would've been Mass Effect 3's extended cut, or as I like to call it 'the Finished Cut'. If that hadn't been free that would've been really unreasonable imo. But Luckily BW thought so too, so it was.

Regarding figures, I've already said I think any desire is legit, but we do deal with a world with limits (in distribution), in this case a product line. Wanting is one thing, trying to make an argument you should get something is another. The latter can be criticised, because you try to appeal to a form of logic. I can criticise myself in that way saying I might want a Zarbon, but there's solid reasons to object to him being released now from a more general POV and so imo there's little basis to make a case for me actually getting it now. Same goes for getting multiple versions of characters (of which ssj3 Vegeta has to be the pinnacle of examples). We have 2 Vegetas and 3 to 4 Gokus, I can very much see why people who don't have any version at all of a major character they want (e.g. Buu, adult Gohan) feel annoyed by that. Does it entitle anyone to anything? No, but there is a general form of fairness to it that you can sympathise with - at least I can. Or not, anyone's own choice. Ultimately business is based on psychology though, so some sympathy for buyers' positions serves the line as a whole. And so from that POV, I think there's a place for reasonable criticism given the context of a limited product line.

Yeah, I'm defending the strictly "wanting" aspect, which I think some people are being disrespectful on. The latter, is a different situation, especially when you are putting yourself out in the open. If Tamashii put out a unpopular figure that bombs and hurts the line, I'm going to be very upset. However, if there's a figure of a character someone wants sells huge, but they get upset that most people wanted it far more than a character they wanted, they have the right to be upset. However, to feel that they SHOULD only cater to their specific wants, that's where it gets narcissistic and messed up. I don't know if you remember me saying, but I didn't want Scouter Vegeta, nor do I really care for his Cell Saga look. I would have wanted his Buu Saga and Namek Saga look. I just bought it, because I might never get another Vegeta figure. However, that was really smart on Tamashii to release what they did.

On another note, I'm still very disappointed over how scrawny and bug eyed Cell looks. However, that's exactly how he looked in the advertisements, so it would be ridiculous for me to be upset of that aspect. I'm also bummed that Trunks doesn't have side-burns, but like Cell, they didn't say it's going to look exactly like he did in whatever point in the anime, he was modeled after.

What I do feel entitled to is having a Vegeta whose legs aren't loose and a Gohan whose arm doesn't constantly fall off. I think that's pretty valid!

Repaint or not, its a different release of that figure. Being the completionist that I am I wouldnt settle for one or the other, I had to have both becuase they werent the same, get where im going? Lol.

Not saying multiple releases are bad, I will get any and all figures as long as they arent minor characters!

Also, not trying to argue, but facts are facts, and if Tamashii themselves see it as a seperate release then they are, end of.

Finally, glad someone else has the gohan arm issue; sdcc version by any chance bane?

I got SSJ Vegeta and SSJ3 Goku in the mail today, along with everyone else (thanks again Jay!). So now I have a bunch of duplicates, but surprisingly I am happy about this.

I like both SSJ Vegeta & SSJ3 Goku a lot more in hand that I thought I would initially. I still think SSJ3 Goku needs much better paint, and he's not as intimidating as the original prototype but he's cool. I'd love an SDCC repaint in the future. SSJ Vegeta is awesome, I like him a lot more than I thought I would. I'm glad I tracked him down.

The only figures I don't have now are SDCC Goku & manga Gohan. Which I don't really feel a need to seek out. Maybe I'll be able to trade some of my extras for other figures I want, IDK. If not I think I will keep them. Now I can display everyone two different ways (well except SSJ Vegeta & SSJ3 Goku), which is pretty cool.

Me and bane have that issue with SDCC gohan.

I don't think anyone was debating if it is a different release. That would be silly! It was if the figure took up a slot for another. Or at least, I hope that's what we were debating!

So the real Big Deano finally comes out, huh? Taking pleasure in others' misfortunes. I'm just kidding! Yeah, it's the SDCC Gohan.

That sucks guys, my sdcc gohan doesn't have a single issue...

I only have the Vegeta loose legs issue and the right leg of cell is quite loose as well. My ssj vegeta's head joint is also a little too loose for my liking. One of my sdcc piccolo's has a shoulder gi patch that detaches really easily. And the beam that came with cell is pretty bent.

I think that's all QC issues I have with mine...

Sdcc is just a repaint it's not a different figure . It's still just ssj goku it just has slightly more brown/gold on hair and darker clothes . For sdcc it's been just a repaint so far for the manga colors to anime. Just like gohan got darker clothes .

So we have 1.ssj goku 2.ssj3 goku 3.normal black hair goku.

That's how I see it. Until they set a precedent of a different character or different look for the character in the anime/ manga for an SDCC exclusive, I just see it as a repaint.

It's like how they had a Arkham Asylum Battle Damaged Batman SDCC exclusive in 2010 for the fans, and then in January 2011, they came out with the regular Batman. Now at last year's comic con they had an exclusive new character, Hugo Strange, so now they set a precedent for that line.

I guess I just have a different interpretation in my head, but I'm not articulating it right. I stand by everything I was saying. Now if it only came out right.

I'm pretty sure that's not the point Cartoon was trying to make. Or his choice of words was confusing.

Whatever, nvm.

I was giving it the benefit of the doubt. I know I make mistakes. I knew what Cartoon meant and that's why I agreed.

Hah, I didnt mean that I was glad you had the issue, I meant, well you know what I mean, right? :lol

I think we are all just getting a bit confused on the whole Goku thing, lets just all agree that he has had two versions if one figure made, eh?

If cartoon was stating the same thing you were bane, then thats right, but he cant say the SDCC repaint wasnt a new release, you would crazy to think that :lol

Of course not! I'm just having fun with you!

Definitely! I think we got some good conversations. It'll tide us over till the next never ending scale debate!

After getting Frieza and now with Krillin, how do you guys feel about getting smaller figures like Goten, Trunks, or Kid Goku? Does the price or height bug any of you?

I love the characters, but kind of worried about how fragile they will be with switching out hands and such.

I know sdcc is a new release because it's literally a new release . But it's the same exact goku as ssj goku just like re release manga goku is exactly the same as OG release ssj goku . But if I get what your trying to say correctly you also think there's been two gohans released ?

If they do a Buu figure, I really hope they chose to do the Super Buu version. Personally, I believe that is the strongest design for the character and I'd like to see some larger characters for this line.

Kid Buu just doesn't do it for me.
