I really don't understand all the gripes with ssj3 Goku's gi color. That is exactly how his gi looked in the aura transformation state. The only way they could have done a more exact job would be to make it darker with more shading for contrast.

I have always argued that fact, but you have to agree that it looks horrible in practice on the figure. Even if it wasnt accurate, a light gi and lack of skin shading would do wonders for ss3 Goku, just look at reapers pic!

I think that probably tamashii do for SDCC 2014 this repainted:

I really dont like the idea of his wrong colours actually becoming a figure, especially when you take into consideration that it was a mistake. A manga to anime colour or reverse repaint im ok with, but something that shouldnt exist needs to stay that way.

Yeah those colors, while certainly unique, look goofy as hell on Vegeta and aren't necessarily attractive. I have the gashapon variant, and it just serves as a curiosity, nothing more. I can definitely see uninformed people claiming that's an ugly bootleg and they "got Vegeta's colors wrong"

It's more likely we'll see yet another Gohan variant of his Bojack Unbound outfit, hah. But who knows, maybe they will make "Bizarro Vegeta" one day.

This issue is that these colors are shadows, not the real color of his gi.

This is real color of his gi when exposed to normal environment light.

It's the same if not lighter than SSj

But....
Powered up, puts shadow down the center and light around the edges

It's the same for all forms of SSj.

That dark shadow is not the color of his gi, it's just shadow.

In DBZ when a character emits light, they illustrate it by putting shadow down the center. When coloring a figure, you never choose the shadow as the base color for the plastic if you're not going to spray highlight colors.

Tamashii didn't spray highlight colors, this makes the figure inaccurate.

Although I would have wanted it to look like that beautiful prototype, if it looked liked Reaper's custom I would have bought it in a heart beat. I could have bought it for $45 on amazon, and I still have no regrets not buying it. If they ever change the colors, I'm there! That yellow hair on the prototype looked so good!

This is why I did the head swap with SSj3 and SSj Goku too. I loved the SSj3 form too much to skip his figure so I just dealt with the poor coloring until blood explained that head swap method, now my SSj3 looks epic. :)

That's great. I would have liked to, but that's too much money for me to spend. I did not plan on spending what I have! I was stressing so much over having to pay so much for Piccolo, but I knew I would regret it. I guess I'll deal with it, when I have to, and enjoy it while I can!

I agree it doesn't translate well into figure form. But it is what it is.

Cant believe I didn't notice until you pointed it out. Looks much better now.

I actually quite like ssj3 goku, couldn't stand it at first but he's slowly grown on me. Plus I dont think the paint job on mine is as bad as some that I've seen posted here, although it does have that annoying colour change at the elbow.

I'm so late to collect this line but I'll look for a Piccolo exclusive and Kuririn today...will wait for normal Gokou this March - those would be my first three SH FiguArts :)

Realistically Normal Goku, Krillin, and Piccolo should've been the very first Figuarts released. Then release the Super Saiyan versions later. Ya know, chronologically-speaking. But this line is all over the place when it comes to specific character releases.

REALLY recommend picking up SDCC Piccolo while he's still around! One of my real favorites from this line (prob top 3 for me) - such a complete figure and really solid! Pity he wasn't the standard release, although the manga colour version is still a sweet figure too, I would def recommend getting him before his price goes silly.....

Is that a prototype? Original goku and ssj3 official product looked nothing like the prototypes.
