You'd think characters like Nappa and Shenron would be more feasable as Figuarts Zero statues

Goku is end of April regardless of American or Japanese releases; nobody else past 18 has been announced yet.

Lmao @Blood

It's ok. I understand it's off topic... I apologize to everyone I may have offended.

To get back on topic though, I recall a few saying that the figuarts line is catered to the interest of Japanese buyers, and I should have mentioned that this was true at first, but Bandai started doing American web exclusives (starting with Vegeta) when they realized that Japanese interest in this line of figures was dismal.

Tamashii was catering to what they thought the Japanese buyers wanted (3x Goku figures), but when they realized that Japanese customers weren't interested in the line, Tamashi put up a poll on their American facebook page to see what the American buyers were interested in. Vegeta and Trunks won the first poll, Cell and Krillin won the second, with Frieza in third place. This is because the majority of the figures originally intended for the Japanese market were instead, being imported into the US. So basically, those who participate in forums like this have the ultimate say in what figures get made, so don't be dismissive because of doubt. We could even revive hope for Nappa.

Goku is fairly soon. So it's 18 who will be released after goku and not 17. What happen to nappa I really liked his display at comic con.

Oh they still do atamsk, dont let tamashii kid you; bluefin themselves said at the NY toyfair in an interview that Japan still has a large say in what figures are made, even though America has the lions share in sales.

And that still baffles me. Maybe they're trying to get Japan more interested in the line? It still doesn't make sense even if that's the case. At least it doesn't to me.

So, I've been watching the new Dragon Ball Z Blu Ray series, and I've thoroughly enjoyed it! I don't want to start a debate regarding whether one thinks it's crap b/c of them cutting parts of the frame to make it widescreen. Just wanted to say that I've been enjoying it. I'm up to the point where Goku has arrived on King Kai's Planet, and I had forgotten how much I love this part of the series.

On a side note, it's interesting watching the English version with the subtitles on, b/c there's quite a few differences between the English and Japanese scripts. I assume a lot of this is in order to try and sync the words with the movements of the mouths, but even when it's a scene where you can't see the character's mouth moving it's sometimes different. Regardless, I still find I prefer to watch it with the English speaking VA's and the subtitles on. Interesting enough, DBZ is the only anime I've encountered where I prefer to watch it with the English speaking VA's. I can't stand Goku's Japanese VA...

Thanks for the tip! I really want to get them, so I could watch it in fully in Japanese, for history. So far I only watched a third of the Cell arc and the full Boo arc in Japanese. I watched KAI twice in Japanese, but from clips I've seen the original blows it out of the water. The English dub of KAI is better. I don't care about the cropping. I like having blu rays, because they don't skip. I bought a few of the "almighty Dragon Boxes", and I would rather have the blu rays. They look good, but I actually like having my screen filled and I'm not picky. People are being jerks about it and are hating Funimation for putting them out. It's like they'd rather have nothing instead. No one's forcing them to buy it, and it's an excellent deal for the price. I don't have them, so I could be way off, but I'm glad you like them!

I'd be curious what you think of the Freeza and Cell arcs of the Funimation dubs, because I think they're awful. I thought the Saiyan arc re-recorded dub on the DVDs were good, but I had to skip through those arcs, because I thought they were so bad, except for the filler. If it wasn't for KAI, I would not have gotten into Dragon Ball. I don't understand how people are using the old Funimation dub as canon to Toriyama's story, when Chris Sabat will even go on about how they just had to make up their own lines, because they couldn't afford a good translation and they hired people who never acted before. And then calling KAI childish because of the lack of blood, even though there is in the uncut, and the lines were changed for kids to enjoy, which I think is a great thing. Goku is not a character in that dub, in my opinion, he just spouts a bunch of generic messages, which make no sense. Gohan was done pretty well though. He actually felt like a character. That's probably why I enjoy the filler in english, because most of it is of Gohan. I also can't stand how they keep playing rock music every second, even when they're talking. I don't think it's bad music, but it's annoying for the show and makes it out to be like a dumb action show. I don't understand people hating Broli, but are okay with "This is amazing. I feel incredible. Yes. Yes. Yes. I feel great I can do this.Yes I'm home. I'm alive. This is all a miracle. I'm awake. I'm wide awake. Hang on Gohan. Here I come." or "I am the hope of the universe. I am the answer to all living things that cry out for peace. I am protector of the innocent. I am the light in the darkness. I am truth. Ally to good! Nightmare to you!" It happens throughout the Funimation original. I don't understand how any of you can stand it. Ignoring the actual audio track, the Boo arc is the only one that has good pacing to me, which is why I watch KAI for the first three arcs, and the filler episodes of DBZ. Some episodes in DBZ would really be only 5 minutes long of content and the rest of just showing episode recaps, flashbacks, and environmental shots. I had to fast through a lot of it. When I refer the anime, here I'm referring to KAI for a heads up. The dubs for Dragon Ball and GT are really good though!

It'd be more baffling if they let England or Australia call the shots on what figures are made, don't ya think?

A Japanese company answering to the Japanese market, how odd.:lol If this stuff would not sell in Japan at all, they would not continue making it even if it did sell in america. Not for an extended period I mean. Bandai is a japanese country, they care about their own people first, it's just plain logical. Will never change, I expect.

Also, Blood, you photoshop maniac.:rotfl

I don't expect 17 before Oktober. Seems everything is a month earlier than last year.

That's why I still have hope for a fourth release! Were Trunks and Cell the only poll winners? Was there no poll for last year, or did Kuririn win a poll?

Uhhhm, the first pole had ss Vegeta in first, Trunks second. in the second poll, Cell was first, and Frieza was second, but over night Krillin suddenly got like 100+ votes for some very strange and peculiar reason and beat out frieza for second place. krillin was in 3rd for a long time though. Still, Tamashi suspected a spammer and decided to make Frieza before Krillin.

Yeah, I can remember that and being really angry thinking they wouldnt notice and that Cell wouldnt make it :lol

Just out of the blue, what was everyones first figure from this line? Mine was Vegeta; he was dirt cheap at the time and I couldnt decide on what Goku to buy, so got Vegeta first and decided luckily just before he shot up that I would get sdcc goku (he was, believe it or not, actually cheaper than manga Goku at the time) and I havent looked back since!

I had all of the Dragon Boxes, and while they are great, I'm perfectly happy with the new Blu Ray releases. I suppose, like others have mentioned on the topic throughout internet forums, it would be nice if they could have provided options for the original full scenes with the black bars vs. the new widescreen edits, but if and until we get that, these Blu Rays work just fine for me.

As far as voice acting goes, I'll be honest. The main reason I can't stand to listen to the original Japanese VA is due to Goku's VA. It's just... terrible, IMO. So, I don't listen to it.

There's truth to them being a Japanese company, and it makes sense to a degree to try and cater to their own country's interest. From my understanding though, the interest for this line in Japan is pretty much non-existent, and the Western market is what has kept it alive. Granted my understanding regarding the success of the line in the West and the failure of it in Japan has been garnered through forums like this one, and could not be the reality of the situation. If it's not the case, then it would make sense for them to cater to the fans in Japan. However, if it is the case, then it only makes sense for any business that's trying to maximize profit to cater to those that make up the majority of the market. Then again, maybe Bandai isn't really concerned with profit to the degree that even if the line is successful outside of Japan that it would rather cut the line out than just have it going in the Western market.

Like I said, I honestly don't know the reality of the situation, but the general consensus seems to be that the Western market is what has kept the line alive. If the Western market is the only thing keeping it alive, then it would stand to reason for them to cater to it in order to maximize its profits. Maximizing profits is what any and every business in the toy industry wants to do, I would imagine.

My first figure was the original Gohan. I've had countless Gokus and Piccolos, but I never had an ss2 Gohan figure .-. it was an easy choice.

We needed Krillin, so we can pose him sitting on Normal Goku's lap with the ^__^ face

My very first purchase was Saiyan Saga Vegeta.

My first figure was Piccolo, IIRC. Wasn't he the first one released? I want to say they released him before Goku. If Goku was released first, then that was my first figure in the line. So, basically, I got whichever of the 2 was released first. Though I suppose I technically got them both at the same time since I didn't ship my Pile of Loot from BBTS until I had both in there.

Perfect Cell was my first. People were saying it was the best figure at the time, so I figured if I regretted spending such a ridiculous amount of money on a toy, I'd be able to sell it, if it's the one people like the most! Look how that turned out! It's still readily available under retail price, while the newer released villains Vegeta, and Freeza are above retail.

My first figure was SS vegeta shortly after he was released. At the time my plan was just to get him because he was my favorite character, but since then I've gotten 5 other characters in the line.
