Pretty scummy of them.

Depends how you look at it. They can't buy them at trade price so need to mark up for profit. Some individuals may not be comfortable importing themselves, it can be an intimidating prospect for some. BBTS is offering an was (yet pricey) solution.

So if I put the extra Kylo Ren figure I bought for $40 on eBay for $100 plus shipping, what am I :)?

Yeah BBTS is definitely scalping the Figuarts now.
yup.

They're doubling the price, and they do it cause they know it will sell out soon.

These are common practices by BBTS, they do these sort of thing a lot, like when they see a figure is selling incredibly well, it goes "out of stock" for a few days, and then it suddenly comes back at a higher price.

I'm not complaining, it's free market, I just don't buy imports from them.

A smart man.

If you're the buyer then that guy is an ******* though :lol

No kidding, if I knew the future when I started collecting I would've bought a bunch of figures I knew would become "holy grails", wait till the prices inflate, and just live off that :lol

Theyre a retailer though, they need to make money, they arent a charity

LOL at your comment, it's like you missed the entire conversation. There's s difference in being a respectable and profitable business or a scummy scalper.

They may as well be standing out front of a Japanese Toys r us waiting to grab all the Kylo Ren.

BBTS is more than fair on there prices across the board for all lines. If you want to call one online retailer a scalper, look no further than Toy Wiz.

They dont get a break on the price, they basically are buying from tru and reselling, theyre paying full retail price for those. Your lack of understanding is astounding

I lack the understanding of charging more than double the cost of these figures.

And how do you know what they're paying for these figures? Do you work there?

How do you get to that $95 price point?

Things get heated in here! I sometimes wonder if we would be so aggressive if we were all in a room together. Group of dudes, slandering each other over toys.

Anyway, I'm frothing at the mouth for that Phasma. If you see that chrome broad up for PO, by all means order one for yourself first and then GET YO' GEEK *** back onto the board and let the rest of us know....or else verbal retribution! :)

Because virtually no retailer bothers selling something if their cost is much more than 50% of their selling price. What, you think the $1 hershey's bar you get at the grocery store costs the store 80 cents? Try 20-30 cents. Are bars scalpers too since the markup of liquor almost anywhere you go is 200-300% of cost? The one exception is hot toys, which only have a profit margin of 20-30% these days, which is also why several retailers and local stores stopped carrying them when sideshow upped their wholesale cost to about 70% of retail. When bbts gets a figure direct from bluefin, their cost is likely MAX 60% of retail. So those DBZ figuarts they get and sell for $35 cost them no more $20. Probably closer to 17-18. You don't call them scalpers for doing that but it's no different than the markup on these Star Wars figures. If you are looking at hard numbers you don't know how retail businesses operate. They go by profit percentage compared to cost. Retail is almost always about double the store's cost at most. Across the board. Hell for many things you buy the retailer is only paying 30% or so of the price they charge you.

And before you say "95 is more than double 40", they factor in freight costs as well. So it's more like 42 per figure if they freight ship. 45-50 if they air ship.

And we all know they pay retail for these due to licensing restrictions that prevents Bluefin, the normal Bandai Japan distributor to the US, from offering these figures.
