Well she married to those films so shes probably happy lol.
Besides theres no guarantee she would have been cast for a superhero. Besides resident evil shes not in that many big movies.

Just finished watching it. I'll say, I didn't hate it at all. Could it of been better? Sure. But honestly as a fan of the first several seasons and getting into it when it originally started, I think it set out to do what it was supposed to.
I really liked Jason in it and I think his character was built very well and I liked the bond he had with Billy. I liked Billy for the most part but some of his jokes made me role my eyes several times since they had to keep going there with him. Zack kinda irritated me, along with Trini. Kimberly I didn't like nor dislike.
Overall I think the structure of the movie was fine, but I felt that the final battle seemed a bit rush and escalated rather quickly (insert Anchorman gif)
I didn't mind the Zords but the GO GO POWER RANGERS theme randomly thrown in there, and from the 95 film of all things was out of place. I would of preferred just an instrumental there that was more modern.
But I did like the big Zord fight at the end with Goldar. I didn't mind Goldar really, I just don't like that it looks nothing remotely even close to the Zyuranger version.
She was alright as Rita. Definitely cheesed it up in a few places and the studio definitely could of went with a better delivery of "make my monster grow"... wow that was a bad take my Wife hated her as Rita, but I mean it isn't like the original Rita was anything to write home about. At least I bought this one as evil.
Kinda bugged me only Jason had a weapon, but I assume in the sequel/s the rest will follow suit.
I'm definitely part of the group that utterly loathes re-imagining of old franchises... but in the end, I went into with it an open mind and I'd definitely give future movies a chance.
Oh and as to the mid credits scene...
Since the feminazis are talking about it, I absolutely see them casting the Green Ranger as a female. The teacher is saying "Tommy" but I'm sure it could be spelled like Tomi like the political commentator and be a girl. I don't care either way honestly what they do with that character.

I also dug the opening scene, and liked the twist that Rita was the original Green Ranger. I had guessed it when photos first came out of her in her green wardrobe so I'm glad they stuck with that. I forgot if they said on the show that Zordon as the original Red Ranger. I'm guessing the bully was Bulk?

I am too. And unlike Logan, I'm actually still thinking about this one after watching it.
And I know this movie only works in a niche demographic like kids and adults who were into the original, so I know it's not high art... But as I already stated, it did what it was supposed to. I hope we get a better director next time. Although I did appreciate the slow burn to the final act, and I don't know if that's attributed to him or not.
There was some bad director choices in there, but not enough to ruin it for me.
i thought everything was pretty great except the end. we spend the entire movie waiting for them to get their suits, just so they can fight rocks for 2 minutes and then jump into the zords which looked stupid. i want to see them kick ass in hand to hand combat, fight rita or a small goldar or something. they didnt get any close up shots of the zords and half of them barely had any design, if they hadnt been color coated, i would have had a hard time figuring out which zord was which. goldar was terribly done, giant gold monster with no face, no speech, no fighting ability. just terrible. when rita jumped into him i was praying for it to transform into a gold and green dragonzord or something, but nope it didnt do anything. pointless. the megazord was better than what i saw in the trailers, but it was still bad. why the hell were the rangers separated from each other in little pods. they should be in the chest or head, sitting next to each other so they can communicate with each other better. then the part where they ***** slap rita, really stupid. zords fight zords, they should have jumped out like they always did in the show and 5 on 1'd her ass. another lost opportunity for awesomeness.
also, i am shocked elizabeth banks didnt annihilate the role as rita. shes awesome but honestly her rita was only above average. i thought that was the one thing about the movie that was going to be amazing no matter what, but i was wrong.
aside from the whole ending, i enjoyed most of the movie. if they can make smarter decisions when it comes to fight and zords scenes, i think they have a winning formula here. i doubt theyll change anything in the sequel though, most big franchises enjoy repeating the same mistakes and expect different results.
