I thought this reboot had a lot going for it. If a sequel doesn't see the light of day, I will be dissapointed. I guess the audience just isn't big enough for this. Maybe the audience that grew up with PR has just moved on.

I found that odd. I thought power rangers was on par with ninja turtles in terms of popularity. But it seems like ninja turtles is more popular, cause the reason those movies tanked was horrible designs and bad writing. Power rangers I thought would do transformers numbers but sadly that wasn't the case. I guess most people liked the idea but didn't bother to see it.

Honestly I'm not surprised. This film was kind of a mess. Beyond the fact that the entire cast were unlikeable tools with no clear character to relate to, it really didn't seem to have a target audience in mind.

Kids? This was clearly not a film for children, with a lot of situations wildly inappropriate for a family film. The first scene in the movie starts off with a freaking beastiality joke. The film doesn't have one decent role model in the rangers. My nephew's parents refused to take them when they found out what kind of stuff was in the movie.

Adults who use to watch the show? Not a single thing was the same as the tv show. Everything was updated in the worst possible way, with barely any tie to the original show. Including most importantly of all, the show's optimistic and inspiring tone.

This isn't even bringing up major structural and characterization issues the film had. And that embarrassingly prominent product placement. And no, introducing the rangers only 10 freaking minutes earlier would have fixed all these problems.

I do think that the time was right for a modern retelling of Power Rangers. But this in no way was it. Maybe they should go back to the drawing board with this.

Yeah, no clear audience

whats the total world box office?

Not enough for a sequel, IMO. :(

Just looked it up: $140M.

But I read an article a few weeks back and apparently, a sequel is not quite dead as of yet. Apparently toy sales were stellar, and may give it the push needed to green light a sequel.

could they lower the budget from this one for a next one?

I mean they could, but my concern with this one was lack of budget for bigger scenes. Not quite sure it was all budget related, but I'm sure that Megazord showdown cost some $$$. I'm not quite sure budget cuts is a smart move - I'm not an expert either though.

But man, can you imagine the Dragonzord on the big screen??!?
