I don't like the way they blend the 616 and Ultimate universe in movies.

Wait until the Captain America movie is based on the Ultimates version, then people will ***** when he is a more militant soldier and kicks people in the head when they are down.
:lol :lol Just the thought of him kicking someone in the head is funny to me.

Hmmmm. I don't see Sam as Nick Fury. Sure he will be great but not what I expected.
Read ANY of the Ultimate books and you'll see, Colonel Fury is a Dead Ringer for Sam Jackson.

They made Kingpin (Daredevil) a rather large Black man and that worked out well.

and that probably is no accident/coincidence.
strategic marketing..... they very easily couldve directed him to be drawn like that with the intentions of him being played on screen by Jackson.

Oh I know but the movie isn't based in the Ultimate universe so it isn't what I expected. Plus I prefer older Fury, like in Marvel Ultimate Aliance or in the Secret Wars. :rock

This is ultimate good news!

And no one sounds racist for wanting a white Fury. They just sound old. (Why in my day Nick Fury was a white guy with howling commandos and by gum that's how we liked it!)

I like that very much. Now we have a 'BAD MOTHERF@#CKER' playing Nick Fury! :rock

If the Ironman movie is based on the Ultimates, Sam is a wise choice since Nick Fury in that series is cursing mofo.

Now, if it is from the Avengers series......we have a problemo :emperor

First of all , where has this info come from? Second ,if it's true , it's BLOODY AWESOME!! The Nick Fury of the 70's was a James Bond/ Man From Uncle pastiche which wouldn't cut it today , the modern/Ultimate version is a realistic military/C.I.A type career guy . Much more realistic for the 21'st century and more in keeping with the "feel" of the movie . I recommend anyone reads "The Ultimates" for a look at how the superhero genre CAN work in the context of modern cinema . The whole thing is virtually structured as a screenplay . Brilliant !

I would've preferred a white Nick Fury but I also like the Ultimate version just as much so it's not an issue for me. But Sam Jackson in the role is pretty awesome!

I think SLJ will work out...still every time I see him im like look its master Windu....

Same here... I love the classic Fury, but the Sam Jackson Fury in Ultimates was pretty sweet too... so I'm good there. And besides, he's really good for the role.

If they DID do a classic Fury, I say Michael Biehn. But, maybe they can still cast him as Frank Castle in Punisher 2. :banana

I imagined Tom Selleck originally as Iron Man - hey. his stash' man - but, after I heard Robert Downey was going to play Stark, I said Selleck would be a really cool Nick Fury.

:monkey3

I'm god with Ultimates Nick. I think it stays true to the character, so I got no beef with it. Kingpin, I didn't feel stayed true to the character, not a race thing. Just bad casting. But Sam is always cool, ALWAYS! Even in stupid "Snakes...." so I got no doubt he'll take this roll home.

Samuel L as Nik Fury awesome great casting, great actor

Now lets see those Mace Windu SS incl/excl with customary leather jacket and black pants, sporting an eye patch bung them next to him below:

eh voila its the SS line for 2008

I grew up reading Nick Fury as a white guy.
I read a few of the Ultimates and was like, whoa... that's a different take... but i liked the edge.

Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury would be pretty cool.

Iron Man.. there are snakes on the muth*******in plane! forgot the fact that it's overrun by terrorists, they have 280 passenger hostages, and they have a nuclear warhead smuggled on-board and they have enough fuel to target anything on the east coast... they have SNAKES ON THE MUTH*******IN PLANE!

Samuel L. Jackson brings a presence to the screen that I think will fit really well . . .

He’s a badass . . . When he shows up on screen you have to smile . . . I love this casting choice . . .

now him, kingpin, and catwoman can all hang out. :monkey1

And Harvey Dent...

I think I'm just tired of Sam Jackson. Its nothing racist, just tired of his generic Bad MoFo character that he has played 100 times before.

"I don't need no snakes and I don't need no drunk in a metal suit!!"

I suppose I've been used to Nick Fury as a white guy, and wasn't aware that he's now black in the Ultimates. After I saw the screenshots of Hasselhoff as Nick Fury, I'd rather see SLJ in the role. I think bottomline, it's really about finding someone who fits the role. There aren't too many white guys of late that can fit into the Nick Fury mold. They're either too pretty boy looking, and not enough toughness. A parallel to this would be finding anyone else who would've nailed Wolverine outside of Hugh Jackman (preference to a Caucasian actor who is short, squat and bad attitude).

For Fury, I can't think of anyone white who can fit that role.

Thank goodness Robert Downey Jr was cast as Ironman -- there's a good chance he can sell the role, even if the plot stinks.

A bit OT, but did anyone feel that Eric Bana filled Hulk's shoes (rather Bruce Banner) pretty well? Somehow I didn't feel he sold the idea of conflict within him too well. With Norton in the upcoming remake, I'm still on the sidelines on this one.
