I predict epic cancellations of the first version, now.

Which makes the timing of this announcement utterly strange.

They should have offered up whatever is going to be next and held onto this guy for Spook (orange pauldron goes well with pumpkin).

But whatever, I'm stoked. I mean, after Vader, the stormtroopers are the best thing about Star Wars.

I suppose that's the only reasonable consideration.

But the few who keep both are less than the many who will swap one for the other. I think anyway.

I agree, I don't think the revelation of the new one will be favorable for the white one. I've been toying with the idea of dropping the white one because of the timing of it's processing, plus now Lando's almost here and this new announcement sort of sealed it, I was really into the white one just for the Ex. hand and that's just not that big of a deal to spend the full figure price on when the orange one is the trooper I care about, I'm really trying to cut back purchases to figures I'll value having long term and not just fun ones to photograph up front, I've done that in the past and ended up feeling like I wasted money. I don't see myself setting up a group of Sandtroopers on display like the movie scene, so odds are that "droids" hand will end up in my accessories bin for all time and I'll have wasted the money, the orange one is my favorite look and weapon, I'll happily have him standing solo on the shelf.

this is a sure buy figure for me. i just checked my rewards points balance and i have enough points to cover this purchase, assuming it cost the same as the white pauldron sandtrooper.

Sideshow could release as many Sandtrooper variants as they like and I'll buy every one, though logically I expect that we will get one more after this (black pauldron enlisted version). I hope we're going to get him as well, though I suppose fabric-painting the pauldron black will be somewhat simpler than orange if they don't give us all three color variations.

Also, after examining the preview image, I can see part of the BFG in the lower rght hand corner, so this guy should be coming with the big gun.

Same with me... Sandtroopers just look cool. And the "look sir, droids" hand is too cool to pass up from the white pauldron. So now I'll likely add this one as well.

If only they had waited a week, Sideshow could have avoided some cancellations. You can see in the Sandtrooper thread how many people are canceling anyway, with some saying they will hold out for the orange pauldron. I'm sure the announcement prompted another batch of cancellations. It's obvious that Sideshow knew the orange pauldron trooper is THE iconic sandie, otherwise they would not have chosen the white pauldron sandie as the first--they didn't want to blow their wad too soon.

Anyway, I'm glad they DID announce it and I hope he does come with the big cannon gun! I'm on the waitlist for the white pauldron stormie, and with all these cancellations I think I have a good chance at it!
