Wow if only i had know this thread was on here. Need to see all the photos of custom headsculpts. Im a Big POTA fan and love Hot toys stuff but Sshow Apes allways have a place in my heart. I have collected them all but failed to get the exclusive versions. Allways wanted for the Apes to expand, Jailer,Dr Galen and the rest of the Jury. I managed to get the SS Lawgiver 1/6 statue and a custom Taylor Headsculpt. I made the other two Astronauts with quite good likenesses. Need to see photos as looking through all this thread would take forever. Are any custom heads up for trade ? Cheers Steve UK.

I wish Hot Toys would make more Ape characters, but my source in Hong Kong said these will be the only ones. They can only put out so many figures a year and they have too many big licenses lined up.

I hope he's wrong but when I saw all the new licenses of hot toys I was already worried for the future of the apes.

Welcome monkeybat! Take a few days and peruse through this thread and you will see simian related wonders that aren't anywhere else. This is creativity central when it comes to 1:6 (and beyond) Planet of the Apes.
Still not happy with my human tones. I gave a shot at repainting a Playmates Star Trek Mugatu face in hopes it may replace one of the HT faces, but its not to my liking yet either. I did detail one of hasbro's Attar helmets. It doesn't work for any of the HT apes as is, but with either some trimming or maybe adding some thin silverish mesh where the hanging down plastic is it might provide options.
Jess, any plans to find material that matches the HT gorilla colors? I'd love to add more to that garrison. It would be like the apes evolved similarly, but not exact in everything. Maybe a westcoast version and an eastcoast version? LOL
I'm not sure whether to believe that Mego forum claim or not? HotToys putting Cornelius on the back of the box isn't a firm commitment to continuing the line, but it was a strong hint at it as I saw it.

I hope he's wrong but when I saw all the new licenses of hot toys I was already worried for the future of the apes.

But.......
If there were more simians forthcoming they would (should) have already been at least in pre-production. New license announcements do not have to mean that old ones are dead or dying. I can't see HT picking up this license to be done with it so quickly.
Here's to hoping they make more

to you monkeybat! Like you, we are also BIG fans of the apes. I'm so glad you located us here at Sideshow Freaks! Having new ape fans join our ranks is always inspirational to us.

As time allows, we would love to see some photos your customs. Many of us here have made our own astronauts as well. We all have a different take on Dodge and Landon. It’s always good to see something new and/or different.

On a scale of 1 to 10. I think this custom chimpanzee head is about a 5 or 6. I tried using a SideShow Cornelius head sculpt, by extending the ape muzzle and then added some really long hair. I’m going to keep him, but he’ll be hidden amongst all the other apes in the background somewhere...

Wait a second. I might cut off his chimp nose, re-sculpt him a gorilla nose with really big nostrils. After that, repaint him in gorilla fleshtones...

Not sure what to do. I’ll have to think about it.

Gotta run, I have plans with some friends today. Later ape fans.

Oh Yea, I need to track those down! I saw the Orangutan in the yellow jumpsuit (no armband, hint, hint.) and noticed that I have not put the Gorilla together yet.

I have just the two custom Conquest apes. One with the yellow jumpsuit and one with the red. Only one armband though! I will have to commision you soon to get me more armbands. The heads are just the SS gorilla and DR. Z. Nothing spectacular yet!

BTW - I thought you had Caesar, Armando, an orangutan and a gorilla. That's 4 Conquest figures, not 2.

I would like to see custom heads because i want to extend my community of Apes. Along with the heads is anyone making the clothes? Cheers. Your right this has totally re-energised my love for the 1:6 SSHOW Apes.

A great big welcome to you, Monkeybat. We are ape fanatics. We love our apes. I work in (cough cough) 1:9....1:6 and 1:1, and I particularly love it if my work involves apes.

Yes it would take forever to go through this megathread as we are a bunch of busy monkeys...but the treasures that you find here are well worth your effort.

I've done some sculpts: Carsia, Milo, Virgil and some gorillas. It's been awhile since I've played with sculpting...hopefully I can get caught up with my painting and sewing so that I can work on more apes to fluff up Ape City.

It was a big celebration here when the PF Zaius was announced and within days, the Hot Toys gorillas.

We await the coming of more apes...from the members who haunt this thread or Hot Toys...or whomever.

I hope you're right. I hope they are working on a better results for hair/fur on Zira and Cornelius too. It's good enough for a no-name gorilla or under Ursus helmet but not for main characters as Zira and Cornelius.


Nobody ever reproduced this scene of the film ? It's one of my favourite.

I'd love to see that ! Sometimes I look for the 1/6 camera but since Angel did it himself, I suppose it doesn't exist. Maybe one day Dragon or another create a WWI war reporter with a camera.

Your right Angel, I was only counting custom apes and not the human and SS version (Total is four).
