Hey guys! This is me at the Star Trek Convention yesterday. I was so happy to find this Dr. Zaius t-shirt:

Love that shirt, Jess!!!

I must keep an eye out for one of those... hopefully one that would fit my ever expanding girth.

Looks like the nightmare isn't over after all:

"Planet of the Apes" Reboot is Moving Forward
Posted: January 22nd, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

We just reported that 20th Century Fox has abandoned their "Planet of the Apes" reboot, and NY Mag has now learned that is back on. In fact, the studio is more determined than ever to make the film that will be an origin story showing how the apes became so smart.

Fox has hired writer Jamie Moss (Street Kings) to rework the script by Scott Frank, who was previously signed to write and direct the reboot but recently left the project.

The script, code-named "Caesar," goes into how genetic experiments on apes led to their evolutionary eclipse of humans. It refers to the genetically altered leader of the simian rebellion, so dubbed because the ape was capable of grand strategic thinking on par with Julius Caesar (whose own surname means "hairy" in Latin).

Seems that Fox is hellbent on cashing in on our beloved franchise... again. Seems like it's only a matter of time. :banghead:banghead:banghead

Thanks for posting those pictures, Jess. They remind me of all those Star Trek conventions I attended back in the mid seventies. Somewhere in the heaps of boxes I have pictures of me dressed as a POTA gorilla posed next to Vulcans, Salt Vampires, Sandmen, and Moon Base Alpha crewmembers... some really great times. :D

The convention looks to have been held at a really beautiful venue, as well. Hope you had a great time.

Wouldn't care if they cashed in by making a worthy sequel and/or installment. Or, of course, they started the Terror series!

Yeah, but seriously what are the chances in that?

Years ago James Cameron showed interest in revisiting the Planet of the Apes... and his take was rumored to take place within the classic film timeline. I wonder if he can be talked into it now that he has created Pandora?

What does that mean Proto? James Cameron created Pandora. I'm not following you.

OK, but having watched the behind the scenes show on FMC about how he pulled off the facial imagery does make me wonder how well he could do the original POTA makeup with today's technology.

PZ, you can purchase the Dr. Zaius t-shirts here:

And if you monkeys have an idea or two of what would make a fantastic ape graphic on a t-shirt, feel free to send him ideas through the website. Tell him T'Pring sent you. (har har!)

Pandora is the planet he created in "Avatar". Since it's monstrous success James Cameron has been talking about making a whole trilogy set on Pandora and it's surrounding planetary system. And I'm sure that FOX is eager for him to do so.

So he is probably too busy those planets to visit the Planet of the Apes.

Plus, I think his ego is too big now anyway to consider it. He was recently asked to possibly helm the Spiderman reboot (the only superhero he has said that he would ever consider making a film of) and he replied that he didn't want to be offered any "sloppy seconds"... whatever that means.

ProtoZaius - Thanks for the wonderful explanation. I never saw Avatar, so it's no wonder I didn't get it. I appreciate the answer. :)

This morning I made myself eat a banana. GAG!! I loathe bananas!!! But I need to take better care of myself...

I just finished one of many posts to use in the stone subway railing. (Think of the stone posts in the mutant interrogation room.)

:banana Good luck on your endeavor Angel. Keep motivated and have fun. I'm sure it's going to rock, especially with all those awesome Mutants you kitbashed together.

Jet Blue was expecting major delays this weekend with their transition to a new system so my flight out has been postponed till 2/3.

Enjoy your weekend everybody

Thnx Stickman - I made myself a paper pattern of the pillar so it looks like the ones in the movie. I ended up using some really nice machinery (at work, while on my lunch break) to do the job right.

This project will not be getting done anytime soon. That’s for sure.

I'll have to cast about a dozen of these posts. I'm tapped out, so this project’s going back into the basement like many of the others to collect dust for a while…

BTW - I also have Caspy completed. He has some very unique updates done to him. Caspy looks really good to me.

Hi Jess! What are you lacking, (pota)ssium? I sent you a PM. Later, Kent.:D

HA HA!!

I got your PM, Kent. I'll have to think about it because I suck at painting...

But good news, guys! I have finished Armando's jacket for Snick. FINALLY! I would hit a snag, get frustrated, and put it away...and then go back to it. I put some effort in it last night and today...and here are the photos. I need to sculpt some buttons (a pair) because the glass beads I have are too small. Then I just need to sew down some snaps. I should ask Snick if he wants this jacket to be open or shut...because once I put in the snaps, you will see it when it's left open. Too bad the jacket material is so dark. You can't see the seams I did in the back...there is one going across the shoulder and one seam going down each vent.

I'll be doing his pantaloons today, hopefully.

Angel I can't wait to see your projects--but these things do take a lot of time. I don't mind to spend time on doing creative stuff...it keeps me happy and busy.

To me, jackets look to be about most laborious things to make in 1/6 scale. Congrats on finally getting that project done and out of your project basket Jessica. Snickertown will certainly be happy it's been accomplished. Have you spoke with him lately? I certainly miss him as a creative force.

I did e-mail him a few weeks ago. He sent me photos of his latest project last week...but I guess I was in the throes of getting laid off that I forgot all about it. I will post them soon. They look awesome.
