I thought that the artist did an amazing job capturing Roddy's likeness. Too bad that wasn't his assignment. ::duh

So when I saw the finished Sal Mineo version I was quite disappointed. :monkey2

Guys we are going to rock Wondercon!! Just waiting for a new batch of greasepaint to arrive so that I could touch up and finalize the makeup to this gorilla. His hair came out fabulously! And to think it started out as a bunch of wefts of hair.

Know what? Costuming is serious business. If you don't have chimpchange, you have to MacGuyver everything. If you need to get your ape on, you seriously need to be a tailor/seamstress, makeup artist, sculptor, and hair stylist. There are no short cuts if you want to look good.

I'm going to make myself a nice gorilla vest. I've been wearing Dylan's and it's quite warm and fashionable! Also, as soon as Wondercon blows over, I'm going to complete my male chimp tunic that I have started for use as pajamas for me. I'm going to be a fashion icon! LOL.

This morning, the first thing Ashton wanted was the little gorilla club I made for him yesterday. That made me so happy!

Sure, it looks like a burnt Chinese eggplant, but he loved it. LOL!! It will have to stay that way until I find the right paintbrush so that I can paint in the wood grain. I'll do that later today. Plus I have to find a metal hook to hang so that I can hang it from the bandolier. I'll probably find something like that at OSH.

Isn't that so cool, Angel? The date on the magazine is January 2010 because that was the goal date to print--but there were some setbacks in printing. It was a hush hush article until it was printed, so I couldn't say anything. I'm so happy they decided to print it. It (my article) will be a great resource for someone who wants to get started costuming as an ape. And the artwork in it looks really fantastic.

Hi Jess! I would get this magazine, but $25.00 is a bit steep for me at this time. The graphics look nice from what I can tell.

Thanks Kfog. That means a lot to me.

Guys...only a few more days until Wondercon. Oh joy!! I still don't know how I'll get there. Hoping to bum a ride off of my husband so I won't have to deal with parking...and then walking a few blocks in full ape gear, although that would still be a funny sight.

Here is the upgraded bandolier. I still haven't managed to paint the wood grain on the club. If I don't have time, it still looks ok...Was too tired to sew the boot covers. I have a few days left to do this. My tooth black finally came today. Yay.

Happy Birthday IM!!

:happybday

Jessica, the bandolier and club look great! Very nice job, who needs halloween when you've got a cool mom that makes wonderful costumes to be worn anytime. Nice job jessica.

About the comic, I haven't picked it up yet, I really want to get and was hoping you could sign it for me? Is it selling anywhere else instead of Ebay. I may have to put in a special request to a friend that works a comic store, see if he could grab it for me.

The artwork looks great and I think it's Ubber cool that you're in it! What an honor.

IM, I haven't been able to tackle that story as planned. I really like your ideas and was hoping you could still work on it? I'm not sure on how much longer I can hold my fort here in Seattle, times are getting tough, $ tight. I've pretty much cancelled all of my 1:6 orders, the Emperor will be my last figure. :monkey2 for a very long time. I'm thinking of even canceling him. SS figures are just too overpriced nowadays and the quality just isn't there anymore. I still have a very bad taste in my mouth after the Indy and Belloq figures. I wish I never got those guys. :monkey4 The new Gi Joe figures, especially the Cobra soldiers look weak, the arms on the tunic are too short, the chest has a big sticker for the cobra logo, to me these figures look very cheap and surely not worth spending $100.00 on.

I have a Forbidden Zone Taylor on Ebay right now for $125. + S/H and Insurance. There are currently 8 watchers and only 1.5 days to go so if you're interested he's up.

Over the next couple of days/weeks I will be unloading a lot of my collectibles to raise funds for my next stop motion short. All $ are going into my next film. I need to get back to work, all this down time and no $ is killing me. :(

Enough rambling, :lol I hope you are all well and have a great day!

Thanks everyone. You guys are the best.

Sticks, I would be honored to keep working on the story. Things have been hectic as hell for me of late. My friend is not doing well at all and i'm out of the transportation game as the drive shaft blew off my truck last week. Now the dealership is jerking me around and no one getting back to me with a loaner or a buyback offer. :banghead.
AHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Sorry to hear that Birthday Boy. It would be great for you to stick to the story and let's get it done. Hopefully the Birthday gods will hear your call and have those slackers help you out.

I may be wrong Sticks, perhaps Jessica can clarify, but I think this is a custom made (and very limited edition) comic book. I get the idea that it was made by some ape fans and has a very limited run. I get the feeling you will not see this is any store.

Happy Birthday Ironman. :fest

Angel is right, Sticks--this magazine is a fanmade magazine, and I believe only 50 were printed out. But...we apes are a dying breed, so you should still be able to snag a copy for yourself.

Jessica - Did you receive yours yet?

PZ -Awsome pictures!

Here are a couple photos that are several months old. This is the tablet that Lady Liberty will be holding. In order to make the raised letters and the roman numerals, I first carved them into clay. Afterwards, I poured some liquid plastic into those carvings and waited for it to harden. Then it was just a matter of removing the clay and trimming away excess plastic.

BTW - My daughter is now kit bashing in 1/6 scale. It's not apes, but it's so cool to see her going at it. She's learned how to sew and is going to college for fashion design. She's kit bashing Barbie clothes in a crazy style... like that of Lady GaGa. Hey! It's what she's into - fashion.

I'm off today and the house is quiet. Time to find an interesting movie...
