How do you do your molds Jess ? Do you pour round the head and not on it and use a slower cureing selicone that helps with air bubbles. Sorry dont know how many molds you have done before.

I use a 4-hour silicone (or is it RTV? Whatever they sell that is 1:1 and it's blue and white), but I would still get air bubbles in the nose or eyes...I would pour on one side of the sculpt and let it slowly cover the sculpt. But I always have those darn air bubbles!

Anyway, today I used a slush layer of silicone...brushed it on with a paint brush, worked it thoroughly in the nostrils and eyes...and all over the crazy hair and let it cure for a bit...and then poured more mold making material and let that envelope the sculpt. :yess:

Behold my first successful cast using a two-part mold! Usually I luck out, but this time, using the knowledge I gleaned from making my 1:1 scale molds for Zira and Urko, I made a slush layer of silicone and it worked. No air bubbles~! :yess: The air bubbles usually love to hang out on the eyes and nostrils...the most difficult places to fix with Apoxie!

That is some great sculpting.

Please forgive me if someone has already posted this.

I always wanted to try a head swap on the Apexplorers Space Adam because the stylized head is not my personal preference. I know it doesn’t quite look right, but I like it.

Now I need to purchase a new gorilla head for the soldier body. ;)

I wish so much Hot Toys would crank out some more Planet of the Apes figures.

I was wondering if anyone wanted to trade their set of meat cleavers for some of these things I have. In error, (I thought I had another set), I traded away my only set of meat cleavers for my Sideshow Caesar. :slap

Here are some things I'd be willing to trade: green chimp feet from Caesar, a green jumpsuit, a chimp head, and a couple of protest banners.

If interested in some kind of trade please let me know.

Oh Jessica!!! Your sculpting is off the hook! I'm loving and wanting all four of those ape heads. They were beautifully created. The quality and details are just amazing! Who are you doing next I wonder?

I will give you cleavers Angel. Give me some time to find them.

On another 1:1 note:
My world was struck in the gut again today. I just found out a little while ago that my aunt was found dead in her apartment. God, I hope these things don't really happen in three's.

Me too!

I love this photo. I just wish the Hot Toys gorilla had a better face and that he didn't look like a hill billy.

Sticks--I forgot to answer your question earlier. I have not baked/heated the Hot Toys gorilla with a set of smaller teeth. Now that I have Apoxie, I will go that route, so I won't have to bake it to cure the sculpey. I think my Apoxie was too old and the oils had separated. But I have a fresh little tub now.

Goodness, Ironman. :monkey2 I am sorry for your loss. How devastating.

On a bummer note, my girlfriend saw my unpainted Virdon sculpt. She said it looks nothing like him.

Oh, I-man...

This has been a rough month for you. I feel so bad about this terrible news.

Try to hang in there.

Thanks Jess and JJ. I am SO glad that this forum exists. I can come here to just "escape".
A helluva month doesn't come close. I'm getting so its like I don't want to answer the phone. Then I sit about and feel a devastating wave of depression setting in.

Hey guys you know the Hunt Scene? Taylor is being chased by gorillas on horseback. At this point of the movie, it is the nice ape makeup. He then jumps over a tree stump, the two apes still chasing him on horseback. This is where someone did a switcheroo and the gorillas are now wearing those pullovers. Just something I spotted today.

Has anybody else ever noticed that the other gorillas do not have ears showing? Only Julius does.

Guys I need money to buy more mold making stuff. I only have enough mold material to make Julius for now. I know there was some interest in casts of his headsculpt. All headcasts from now on will be $30 (unpainted) and shipped w/in US. Everywhere else it will be $35. This will cover the stupid paypal fees and also shipping/tracking. If anybody's interested, you can send much needed funds here...just remove the spaces and change the symbols:

I can mail him out as early as tomorrow.

Can you show a picture-list of heads you have for sale? Also, what type of neck hole (if any) do they have?
Thanks!

Sean

Sean, you will have to dremel out the neck hole. I don't have all of the different body types so you will have to do that yourself, unfortunately. The only other guys I have available are:

I totally agree regarding the head.

That's a very cool crossover. I wonder how he would look with an Ursus head?
He needs his trademark rifle. Can the bandoleer fit over the suit?

I-man :gah: I'm so sorry.

Sounds fun. I look forward to seeing the dentistry work.
