Oh why do these ideas hit me so late at night?

Goodbye hair...no more fun and games...

I know my painting sucks, but tomorrow, I'm to paint up the gorilla face and make it look spectacular. I didn't even have the right paints on hand--this is just my pax paint and rubber mask grease for my ape makeup for myself...

I combed up his hair so I could layer it properly:

I trimmed a lot off because it needed it. I think it looks better. What do you think guys? ONly reason why I did this was because a friend of mine sent me some fake fur so if I messed up, I could rehair him.

Tomorrow after he has better paint I will take a nice photo of him.

YES!!!!
Looks great!

WOW!! Have you ever considered making just HT ape faces? I know for those of us that have them they'd be a welcome variation.

And,... I also finally, after only TWO years, heard back from Dr. Shrinker. Only for him to tell me he doesn't do that work anymore.

I don't know if anybody else is brave enough to pop off their HT ape faces. It's a pricey toy.

Ironman, I know I passed on your offer before...but do you have any spare heads you have no use for? It's faster for me to churn out an ape head from an existing head without worrying if it's to scale or not. I think I've gone through all my extra human heads. I have some Asian ones but those don't work so well because the eyes are already slanted.

You know what Ironman? If I ever buy plastic resin again, I could make some faceplates with all of the existing molds that I already have. I would put a small amount of liquid resin in the molded section of the gorillas face to make a faceplate. I'm sure that's what Jessica did with this haired up Julius faceplate. She could probably make others. How many silicone gorilla molds do you actually have Jess?

Hi Angel! I don't know how many gorilla molds I have. Not too many. I have a lot of gorilla sculpts, but looking at them now, I am going to re-do them.

That's exactly what I did--poured just enough resin to fill up the face...trimmed the edges, and attached with Klean Klay for the photo. It's not even permanent.

Glad you like him, Angel. He doesn't look troll like to me anymore, not after the hair styling. Actually I really like him now. I don't like the HT gorilla sculpt.

I really love the faceplate idea! I wonder if you could take a 1/6th scale barbie doll with black hair, replace the facial part with the gorilla plate and add more black hair and then attach it to a DML or sideshow body?:)

I'm sure you could do that, Kfog. Anything is possible. It's good to think out of the box.

You have to take it out of the box anyway! Har, Har, Har! I think that I saw something in the past that did this! They took some old cheap Barbie and truned them into gorillas. Pretty cool stuff!

:fireworks Happy Birthday Jess!! :fireworks

Yes Jess. I can still do that. I'll even try and sort thru them so you get only the brown eyed simian types.

IM--it doesn't matter what the eye color is. I just need the eyes as a guide to keep them in scale. Whatever is easier for you.

Maybe. The parting of the hair makes it tricky. It's rooted that way, so you would have to scalp the thing, twist the hair around so the part doesn't show...if you scalped it, flipped the hair around...you may have to drill holes and punch in more hair.

OR...here's a thought! shave/pull off the hairs at the part (save them)...redrill holes and repunch to get rid of the part. That would probably be easier than trying to flip the hair around with a major scalping.

If that Frenchman came in a lighter hair color--like blond, with a good haircut he'd make a great orangutan.

Oooooh, watchout for Proto now. Mention Orangutan and he wakes up!
