Jess,

Do you have any generic printable patterns for a top & bottom. I'm looking to make gorilla tops & bottoms. I was going to draw something out on paper, but I thought you might have a pattern already done, that I can increase or decrease size depending on sideshow or dragon body.

Wow. I do like sculpted ape hair (I have several of Jessica's awesome resin ape heads in-progress) but I also like the haired up apes.

Thanks for the tips. :hi5: I added another wash of transparent raw umber hue on the teeth (pics below). They still look brighter in the light box, but seem darker in normal light.

Looking at these pictures, I am thinking about adding another wash.

TDP--I love the last photo. They just look like they are watching some game at the local watering hole and just having a blast. I think one more layer of wash and then they'll be perfect. I think the teeth were just photographing too white, even though without a flash I bet they're pretty brown.

Sixx--I don't have any patterns. What I do is place the body on top of a paper towel, and then make an outline of the body. With a different colored pen, I then create a pattern, making sure that the pattern goes beyond the outline of the body. For reference, take a look at a simple shirt, and see where the seam lines are. Notice how the sleeve is just a simple shape folded in half. Just deconstruct it in your head and redraw it on the paper towel...

Plus you have the Sideshow General Ursus--you can remove his armor and retrace his shirt on a paper towel. You should also try on his purple outfit on the other bodies and you can gauge to see if it will fit or not. I bet they'll fit most figures since the pants are pretty baggy.

Seeing Matt hairing up Sixx's figures makes me want to try my hand at it! Plus seeing all the haired up apes that TDP has been showing us... I wanted to get on the same bandwagon, too. Here's my first haired up figure, Mego scale. I used to think this Cornelius looked pretty good, but he needs to be resculpted. If I can find the time, I'm going to resculpt him. I used that Mongolian faux fur I had mentioned before...my friend sent me a swatch and miraculously, I found the swatch.

He is sporting two types of hair: Mongolian fake fur on top, and underneath it's doll hair. Forget what it's called...but it comes in a braid. I used it to get that bump/curl at the bottom of C's hairstyle. Oh! I also learned that hairspray works ok for fake fur--so if you need to spray your gorilla fur down, you can help tame that hair with hairspray.

I've got to paint up my Zira foam latex mask today.

Urko debuts this Saturday. I can't wait. I hope Martin looks spectacular.

I thought you guys might be interested in this unique auction from my collection of custom TV characters from Planet of the Apes. This is the last of my TV apes. After this, I will not have any others left in my TV collection. I have sold approx 25 Planet of the Apes figures over the last 2 weeks. This auction features Galen, astronauts Burke & Virdon, Lt. Gorilla and child chimp named Arno. I guess young Arno might pass for young Cornelius from Battle for the Planet of the Apes.

Thank you to all for your continued support in helping me to sell off my apes collection.

I am so excited to see Martin all suited up as Urko. I think he looks really really fabulous!! To the left is another person wearing the Apemania economy gorilla mask.

OMG--I just remembered I have to glue down a new hairline for my Zira...so I better get cracking. Plus I still need to paint up and put greasepaint on that mask. I better look for all parts of my outfit to be ready for Saturday.

Guys I'm so freaking excited! I think I am ready now to try sculpting my own Ursus helmet. I just had to share...the thought just came to me a few minutes ago.

Yes, Sticks! That's my mask to the right. Urko is unbelievably handsome, isn't he?

What's on your workbench? At my house, it's "What's on Jessica's ironing board?" These are my things I will need to use to get my ape on. I've found EVERYTHING except for my chimp boots, but that's OK...I will use my regular dark brown boots I have used before, so no biggie. Jeff says that he's only bringing one ape with him--so there will be four of us total there...me, Jeff, Laci and Mitchell the Klingon who says he will wear ape regalia that day. I CAN'T WAIT!!!! It's the first time I am using my home made Zira foam latex prosthetics...so I can't really tell how it's going to look. Wish I could try it on, but there's no way to tell exactly how it will look until it's glued down and blended.

Good news!! Guys sorry for the crap cellphone photo, but I found gorilla purple cloth at Target! Now for the bad news...it's pricey! (Anyway, it's 600-count thread, and anything above 400-count is always pricey...) Unfortunately, I didn't have my Hot Toys gorilla pants with me at the time...so if anybody's got a Target near them, go check it out and see if the color is a good match. I thought it was...but then again, I'm not good with remembering exact colors, so I always have to have a swatch to compare. It's about $30 for a pair of standard pillow cases. Now is that not pricey?
