Holy moly Ski...... You joined not too long ago and you're already at 17,000 posts...... :horror You're an animal! :chew

But to comment on the thread, rare collectibles are always going to sell for a premium..... I mean, do you expect to pay retail for an antique?? So because it originally sold for $2 in the 1800's to you expect for the owner to sell it at that price?!?!

C'mon man..... Be realistic. If you don't want to pay a premium for a highly sought out piece, then just don't buy it :peace

I'm EPIC, I matter :rock ELITE or go home.. :monkey3

I believe I have to buy Doom PF EX for $1500-$2000 back to get him back into my collection, he retails at $300 do I feel like I'm getting ripped off no I bite the bullet because I want to and I know he's worth that much to me for him to be back in my collection.

As for my part, I was suggesting that few tears would be shed should the thread be locked. To use that as a threat suggests that more than the one person wants the thread to keep going...

I have not taken either side and haven't put forth my opinion on the matter and actually don't really care if the thread stays going or not... as long as people remain civil and if the thread doesn't just derail into pictures and jokes. I wasn't threatening to lock the thread at all... on the contrary... I would probably just delete posts first.

if people don't want to discuss it in a civil manner or are tired of this discussion they can move on.

i think its an interesting topic to discuss. is anyone going to make a revolutionary post that changes what we all believe? no. but this forum is about discussing toys and personally i find this topic to be one of the most fundemental discussions in regards to collecting limited items today, though as I said I think its losing its significance lately.

IMO the most pressing philosophical issue to the collecting community as a whole today is the now huge business of commissioned items and the risks of being completely ripped off. its all about buyer beware.

Blackthornone, just a hypothetical question here. Say you have a readily available collectible you bought for say 100 bucks. Some rich dude sees it and says how he just has to have it. He offers you 200 bucks for it. Do you stand by your principles and tell him where he can get one or are you a hypocrite who takes the money, pockets a 100 bucks and reorders the collectible. With your reasoning, a man who bought a Corvette in 68 and kept it mint, who goes to sell it should, should price it at the same price he got it for 42 years ago. That would be foolish wouldn't it?
That isn't scalping. That would be reselling something I originally bought for MYSELF and then decided to sell it for more, because after all THAT TIME, (and NOT the practically immediate turn around that scalping is)I might be tired of the car. I might have had my enjoyment out of the car, and have decided that I would rather sell it and then use the money to buy something that interested me more, or inspired me more, and then let someone else have my car who was more inspired by it than I was. If you buy something for yourself, and then later decide to sell it at a profit, that isn't scalping. Scalping is when you buy something with no intention of keeping it, and therefore only buy it to resell at a quick profit. This scalping sours the collectibles hobby, because it places more emphasis upon money and profits than it does about passion and love for these pieces. If I had a 68 Corvette, I may or may not sell it. I prefer the '69, because I like the trim in the fender louvers, but it is so small inside that my shoulder hits the door, and I have to lean to the right to sit in it. Not to mention how awkward it is for my left elbow when driving it.

PS: Blackthornone I HAVE 3 WHITE ELEKTRAS suck it!!!! :lol

Of course that's your attitude. That's the attitude you MUST have when you order 3 of an exclusive. When you order three instead of one, you are telling all of your other collectors, and specifically the other two collectors who will be buying the extra two you bought to suck it! Scalper buying multiple exs: hahaha my fellow collectors, I'm buying 3 exes! Now you will have to pay me more for them! I don't care about you! Suck it! Suck it! Suck it! Muahahahahahaha! Look at how my bank account grows at your expense! Muahahahaha!

I hate how the world has been flipping Gold for years.
,...... I mean its a "free" element of earth.

Gold is an excellent investment. We should all go back to the gold and silver standard. Having currency backed with gold prevents inflation, and investing in gold protects you from inflation. Write that down. :D
