Even if the paint was awesome and the casting was flawless, I still think the use of a piece of printed paper instead of metal for the lenses is pathetic.

Honestly though, when it's up on the wall and you're sitting back and looking at it, it's cool, it looks nice. It's only when you take it off the wall to check it out in your hands, you start seeing that it's done so cheaply.

I didn't buy this one and I'm glad I didn't now, I have the wolf bio
and I wouldnt expect anything less in quality.
It really sux that SS cheap out like this.
I have the Celtic bio on pre-order and I'm really considering canceling
if its going to be anything like the Scar bio.
Printed paper on a $300 collectible is a FKN joke.

very true i think ss drop the ball on this one... up close it just looks like s#^t ...PAPER LENSE SIDESHOW ARE YOU FOR REAL!!!!! WOOOOOOOWWWW

I'm very, very happy I spent my money elsewhere - about a week ago I was considering buying one on ebay, after seeing Dan's video... if I had bought that, I'd feel awfully insulted.

I just can't get past PAPER being used on a 'high end' collectible.

The one thing that is really annoying me is the lenses! :banghead. It doesnt make sense! Im still going to get all of them anyhow

It looks good if u stand back but up close sh^ty ..o well still want to get the other 2

how much weight can the class take? I have a glass cabinet and the wolf Bio but never wanted to put it on the shelves because i thought it might crack over time

Sorry for the late response man. The glass the Wolf bio is on can hold 35lbs if I'm not mistaken. Also thanks again everyone for the comments.

sorry guys, i know this is the scar tread, but i just got this today and had to show all of you! ( all my predator buds! )it is amazing! it came still sealed in box! i still cant beleive i ran across one for sale.

Hey guys... sorry to say but this piece was a disappointment and they completely went el cheapo on this. The Wolf is WAY better than this thing quality wise... the joke of all jokes is they've replaced the metal lense with A PIECE OF PAPER lol! So between that, lack of weathering, brush strokes, air pockets in the mold ruining the casting (the ribbing on the laser shroud is FUBAR on mine), this piece is just meh. Looks OK on the wall 10 feet away from you, but up close it blows. And the weathering is NOTHING like the prototype...
.....If you own the Wolf already, you'll see exactly what I mean on how this is so much cheaper looking.

Frickin' heck, I'm just reading this now, I had no idea the lens was PAPER. That vexes me no end.
And I just had to have the flippin' thing on FLEXPAY, yay, cancellation fees!

I might bite the bullet and cancel. $20 is cheaper than $300+a load of disappointment.

I wonder if they will actually use the various mesh patterns that each AvP helmet had. If you watch the movie you can see that the chopper has no mesh, it's just a shiny plastic lense with like a speckled noise effect on it. You can pause it at 53:24 in the theatrical version right where he's face to face with the alien that just speared him and for a second or two you get a full shot of just the lenses showing the reflection of the alien about to puncture his face.

Then at 56:29 when the celtic is fighting the alien, you get a similar shot when the alien breaks out of the deployed netting and jumps on top of the celtic. You can see it's the same material as what the chopper has.

So hopefully they don't use the same paper mesh thing for all 3 :(

If you check out the high resolution photos of the celtic on the sideshow site, they DO appear to have the right texture for the lenses:

But to me, it doesn't look like a plastic lense, I'm thinking it's simply part of the paint job and there are no eye holes or anything. They left the eyes covered in resin and will simply paint the area with the correct texture. If they do that, I think it's a poor decision...

I'm watching your review video right now - I'm liking it less and less every minute!

Just bear in mind that it still looks nice up on the wall, so if that's your bottom line expectation, then you shouldn't hesitate to pick it up. BUT if you expect this to look just as cool when you've got it in your hands or you expect it to be as nice as the Wolf, you won't be happy.

They may have used paper mesh for the visor....I mean, why do they make it out of fiberglass and not metal?

All I care about is, i'll have an offical CP mask.

I think you might be right - it does look like it might be painted on there.
I truly hope not - thats almost as bad as putting paper in there...almost.

I just dont get it, its a $300 collectible!! Not only is it $300's its not even a maquette or statue.....its a freaking helmet!! It should look and be made of top quality material. The Wolf bio is a good example of that and I dont understand why they changed the formula.

And I know that the focus right now is the paper lenses, (which is definitely the biggest issue) , but I am also quite disappointed with the fact that the weathering is completely different from the pictures released on the site. Its almost non existent. I truly expect more from Sideshow....and from ADI for that matter. Their work has been top notch up to this point.

Just unacceptable.
This is now the second piece in a row (including the Pred2 Dio hand change) where the pictures on the site have not been updated with new material to accurately represent what we are buying :(
