Sometime, in some thread, I hope you'll share your experience with them.
There is not a whole lot to tell. It's not like I hang out with them. I make frequent trips to Central Florida for business and personal reasons. If I fly into the Sanford/Orlando airport I try and stop by their studio as it is a stones throw from the airport. An old acquaintance of mine lives in their neighborhood, that's how I discovered they lived there. They work out of their house. I have been trying for like 3 years to get them to do some new heads for my 12 inch Xfiles figures, but they haven't been able to work it into their schedule. I got to look through some of their boxes of castings and it's crazy how many heads Joy has sculpted. In 4 seasons of Robot Chicken she has done over 350 portraits. They mainly focus their marketing on toy and statue manufactures and don't show much of it on line anywhere. Joy is a very sweet person. She is deaf and doesn't like big crowds so she rarely goes to conventions. Tom is very opinionated and often comes off as a horse's @$$, but he knows his stuff when it comes to the task of making their studio run and producing quality work. Their son Joshua is working on his MBA and runs the administrative aspects of their business. I have been trying to convince them they could make a killing doing custom heads, but they say they are spread to thin at this time. Between the many professional commitments they have and caring for Joy's elderly mother and aunt, they can't find time to fit in anything else.
