Sometime, in some thread, I hope you'll share your experience with them. :D

There is not a whole lot to tell. It's not like I hang out with them. I make frequent trips to Central Florida for business and personal reasons. If I fly into the Sanford/Orlando airport I try and stop by their studio as it is a stones throw from the airport. An old acquaintance of mine lives in their neighborhood, that's how I discovered they lived there. They work out of their house. I have been trying for like 3 years to get them to do some new heads for my 12 inch Xfiles figures, but they haven't been able to work it into their schedule. I got to look through some of their boxes of castings and it's crazy how many heads Joy has sculpted. In 4 seasons of Robot Chicken she has done over 350 portraits. They mainly focus their marketing on toy and statue manufactures and don't show much of it on line anywhere. Joy is a very sweet person. She is deaf and doesn't like big crowds so she rarely goes to conventions. Tom is very opinionated and often comes off as a horse's @$$, but he knows his stuff when it comes to the task of making their studio run and producing quality work. Their son Joshua is working on his MBA and runs the administrative aspects of their business. I have been trying to convince them they could make a killing doing custom heads, but they say they are spread to thin at this time. Between the many professional commitments they have and caring for Joy's elderly mother and aunt, they can't find time to fit in anything else.

I can't believe they don't have at least one kick ass head in 1:6 that they could just unveil upon us for sale!! Oh the agony!! All those Andgor sculpts going nowhere!! :banghead

The quality of their work has gone up since the Andgor days. Not that those sculpts were bad, but they would probably want to rework most of those before considering selling them. I think the real shame is that bigger companies haven't hired them. They have done great work for Amok Time, Executive Replicas and Scifimetropolis, but these are all kind of start up companies. They did several heads for Tonner, but that was kind of a waste of Joy's talent as the sculpts had to be Tonnerized to fit in with the rest of those lines. They have just missed out on working on some higher profile projects like Heroes from Mezco and the Dexter figure by Biff Bang Pow. The selfish side of me hopes they don't get any bigger so maybe someday I will get a chance to get some commissions done.

Yes their work has "improved" for lack of a better term since the "A" days, but there isn't a sculpt from then that wouldn't look great in any collection. And, I am glad to see them working for companies like AT, ER and SFM. It gives smaller, starting companies like them that professional quality to compete in today's market. I just wish I had some of the ability to sculpt like Joy. Oh, the collection I'd have...

I just got my Spock today and it's an amazing sculpt, very crisp and one hell of a likeness. I'm very happy with it and I can't wait to start painting it. :rock

I just got mine as well, with a message making it very clear how Tom and Joy regard recasters. They have an open-ended return policy; if you ever decide you don't want the head, return it and they'll refund your money. I hope everyone who bought a head reads this message and takes it to heart, because I have no doubt that if this head is recast, we will lose this avenue to the Snyders.

And before anybody says "right of first sale," I suggest you actually read up on how the right is limited.

This is an absolutely beautiful sculpt.

:lecture well said man. We need to heed that message for sure, no need to screw the pooch on this deal.

I have tried to get one of these heads however I was too late, if someone wants to sell his, please send me a PM
Thanks

I did a quick paint up, just need to do the eyes... I'll post pics here tomorrow if I can, just so everyone gets a clear idea of this sculpt's amazingness. :rock

I got mine today....woohoo, what a great piece. And I love the fact that they fixed all the problems - holes in the resin, etc - prior to sending it out. First class if you ask me, and I hope to get in on any other sales too.

if possible, can someone post pics? this is the last week this piece is being offered, and I want to make sure it's the deal before getting it. thanks!

You can still get him. I don't know where you tried but just follow the directions in post #24 of this thread. This is the last week for him though.
