Here is a (not so) little yard mate we caught just about 20 minutes ago. The second and third pictures are meant to show how scorpions glow under black light but the pictures to not do the effect justice. This guy was glowing like a black light poster. (edit - by the way...the second and third pictures were taken in absolute darkness other than my ultraviolet flashlight. The two diffent pics represent the low and high settings on my flashlight.)

Badass! :rock

:hi5:

My kids are trying to talk my wife in to letting them keep it. They have a good tank to make a terrarium out of for it. But she came across a centipede about 1-1/2 or two times the size of the one I pictured a few posts back...and it was on her vanity...so she is not very tolerant of creepy-crawlies right now.

I had to kill that centipede as I could not get anything quickly enough to catch him with so I could turn him loose outside. But that centipede and this scorpion would have rocked a divided terrarium!

I hate scorpions. that pix just made my skin crawl. I got bit by one back home in jamaica, i was moving a stone and it was right under it, and BooM!! felt like getting shocked from and electrical outlet. being from the island everybody thinks they have a cure for the sting. we caught it, squished it put it in some bay rum and poured that on the sting area (after squeezing out the poison, still swelled up to the size of a golf ball and popped. eeew!

Here is another. I do not have my tripod nor my flash and the lighting dictates a slower shutter speed so it is hard to get a very good shot.

*sigh* And here I thought they were all gone. This one was climbing the wall as my family watched a show tonight. I included a quarter for scale and yes I used my Michael Myers kitchen knife on him.

And black-light Predator vision...

I did, fun. They used to scare the sheet out of me but now I'm numb to them. Until I scream like a girl and they're in the bathroom...under the can. :thud:
