Why do insects have to be so disturbing? :monkey4

not only that but they outnumber us

For sheer variety and abundance, insects rank among the most successful animals on Earth.
There are at least 1 million different species of insects all over the world. which is about half of all the animals known to science. Some would say there are more like 10 million. Each of those species have colonies in the billions. Beetles alone have 32 taxonomic orders, 125 different families and 500,000 different species

yep, exactly my feeling, I thought about getting a can of Lysol and a lighter and making my own torch but i dont want to burn the place down :lol:lol

Yeah, be careful. You could wind up with flying incendiaries! Our neighbor tried that on a wasp's nest and one flew up higher toward his outdoor lights, into the bird nest in between them and POOF! *******'s lucky he had the hose running on the lawn as Plan B. I overcooked a steak laughing at his ass. :lol

I would definitely call that a success, even if it's the last thing in the world I'd ever want to be.

a friend once burned a frog that way, he did it with hair spray I think, it wasn't lysol though, it was pretty brutal and disgusting, it looked dangerous, I've heard cases where the can explodes and takes off half your face...
but im so tired of all these damn bugs I'd consider it :monkey4

I find insects and arachnids pretty fascinating, but I absolutely hate biting flies. I constantly get attacked by these deer flies whenever I go jogging at the forest preserve.

I do find some bugs fascinating as well, I like the ones that won't bite you or bother you, ants are pretty amazing sometimes, I just hate that they bite and are poisonous, I hate that they go inside the house too, I wish they just stayed outside, they are so annoying...

Aren't those flies dangerous? this guy told me once they bite cows and lay eggs in the bite or something? he kept telling me to Not get bit by them

Botflies. I won't post pics though because it's worse than that herpes pic. :monkey4:monkey4:monkey4

That's a deer fly, closely related to other biting flies like horse flies. They're blood suckers and their bite is painful, so I kill them at all costs, but they're not known to lay eggs in living human flesh.

Blow flies, like nam mentioned, lay eggs in dead corpses. You may be talking about the human bot fly. It grabs and lays eggs on an intermediate host like a mosquito. When the mosquito goes to feed, the eggs are stimulated to hatch from the warmth of the host or fall off and the maggot burrows into the skin. It grows underneath the skin and feeds on the flesh until it reaches adulthood and burrows out of the skin. The type of bot fly that usually infects humans is found in South America.

Speaking of flies...I've been feeding these bold jumping spiderlings flightless fruit flies....they're not so flightless FYI.

It's been about 3-4 days since I last fed them, the fruit flies are in a small jar.
I opened it today and atleast a hundred of them flew out and are everywhere... :lol

This is how big they are (not my pic):

I put a large flat rock in my scorpion's terrarium and he is digging out underneath of it so much that I am afraid the rock is going to give and crush him.

Aaaaaaaand...guess what just happened. He's ok, though. The rock was held up where he was by the little sand that was left under it.

I can see needing to re-do the sand/dirt in his terrarium, though. I will have to made it deeper, pack it better, and get a better hide for him.

Same thing almost happened with my emperor.

I use coconut fiber for him though, and I keep his rock in the corner of the terrarium...so I'm able to sort of mold the coconut fiber around the rock to help hold it in place.

Rocks are great for decor, but I think bark is much better for hides. More versatile, softer, lighter, etc.

I think I am going to need to make mine deeper and get it damp so it packs. This scorpion is about the diggingest scorpion I have ever seen. I left him two great hide-making ops, a water dish, and a pile of rocks and he has the water dish and rock pile buried, he dug out so much from the big rock that it collapsed and about 1/4 of the bottom of the terrarium is exposed.

But I am learning how to do it right.

so my backyard is full of Wasps making nests,
so there was this little bucket in my yard, and a Wasp was making a nest, I killed the wasp with some Raid, and then when Iwent to destroy the nest, it was full of spiders... WHAT the F___

so the wasp was making her nest on top of an existing spider nest....
there was like 8 spiders in there, some little bright green ones, and some reddish ones, they weren't moving but.... I am considering buying a Hazmat suit and a flamethrower by now... I might torch my backyard now...:gah:
