Wife just found another baby scorpion in the house. This one is the tiniest scorpion I have ever seen. I am going to find a way to get a picture of it with Dusty from Sideshow's GI Joe line. This little guys is about the size of a medium sized ant.
Devilof76 wanted one as well. I'ma see if there is any way I can ship them with some of their native soil. If so, I'll send them to whomever wants one...if there is one of these little ones in the house...there are a dozen...minimum. And we'll find more.
I wonder what I am going to feed him...I can't think of a bug small enough. I will try baby crickets...but they will have to be damned small baby crickets.
You definitely need to feed it flightless fruit flies. That's what most people feed baby scorpions/spiders until they're large enough for crickets. I wouldn't trust a cricket around any scorpion that small.
It's not nearly as messy as it looks. They're very slow, clumsy and fragile..they will die off quickly and be eaten easily. Just tap a few of them out of the jar into the scorpions container every once in a while.
You should be able to pick up a jar at your local pet store/petsmart/petco.
You won't run out for weeks, but be sure to dump some out every day or two no matter what, because if they live much longer than that, they won't be very flightless anymore.
I would actually really like one, can't think of a safe way to ship a scorpion though. Maybe you could put it in a small container with several layers of folded paper towels, which would then go in a small box...idunno.
Thanks forthe tip. I'll look in to the fruit flies. And I will be looking in to shipping. If I can get it done, I will send the next one we find to you.
I haven't come across any more yet. Wife vacuumed the day after we found this one...presumably to try to get some of them...but she vacuumed in the day time so I am guessing that her efforts will net minimal results in that area. I am taking my black light flashlight home tonight to try to find more.
