I guess it will be all apart of the experience. I am waiting until after I get a hotel to book my flight, just to be safe. Cause if I can't get a hotel, then what is the point of going?

There will be two of us trying for a hotel so hopefully that will better our odds.

Those of you who thought the con ticket fiasco was a cluster____, you ain't seen nothin' yet. SDCC Hotelgate 2011 next week.

So you either stay far away or you book a hotel now that is twice or triple the price?

I refuse to stay far away. Always find a place within 1-4 blocks from the Con and in the Gaslam district. I pay a lot more, but it's worth it to me to fork over the $$ to ensure closeness to all that's happening after-Con and not have to hassle with transportation issues late at night when I'm bone tired.

There aren't many close to the convention center. I find it best to be staying very close, so that you can make trips back to your room to drop off swag and anything you have purchased quickly. Also at the end of the day , when you're dead tired, you don't have far to go or long to wait to get back to your room. I think that the farthest I will ever stay would be the Embassy Suites.

just gotta work on that endurance. i stayed in gaslamp last year with my girlfriend, but this year we'll be staying in little italy area. a bit farther away, but it just gets too crowded to explore the city (driving) since we had never been in san diego downtown area before. i figure between all the shuttles, trams, buses, etc. transportation won't be too hard and if it saves me hundreds of dollars doing so that i can spend on other things, then that's a sacrifice i'm willing to make.

Well after being awake since 3 am, and standing in lines and walking around until 6 or 7 pm, my endurance is usually all gone. I guess that's what happens when you have a desk job.

When I'm there, I'm only there for the con. I don't really care to explore SD. I'll walk around gaslamp looking for a restaurant, pursuing one of those con scavenger hunts, or going to a party. With all that going on I really have no time to explore if I wanted to.

If I were there on a normal vacation, then sure I'd probably explore. But there is just so much to do at the con and that's all I do.

small compromises when ur with a banging hot girlfriend and goes with you to the con :bouncin:banana:bouncin:banana:bouncin:banana

ooooh im sorry to hear that. My ol' lady wanted to go and i put the kibosh on that sh!* quick.

..."banging hot girlfriends" dont belong at the con this event is carefree and Im saying no girlfriends or wives or that kind of stuff. Im hunting for Cougars :monkey3

haha well there are the pros and cons about her going, but i'd say there were more good than bad

pros:
sex
she made all the food and kept the alcohol stocked
sex
free drinks/cover at all the bars we went to
sex
better chances of drawing a "winning" ticket in those wack @ss ticket drawings
took turns standing in lines
...did i mention lots of sex?

Cons:
had to do a little bit of tourist-y stuff like go to the beaches, restaurants, shopping, etc
had to go with her to the panels she wanted to see
couldn't weave thru the exhibit hall aisles as easily
had to buy an extra 4day pass

so you guys may say "Nay" to bringing the ladies, but i'm all for it...unless she dragged me to those twilight/vampire bs, then we'd have some issues
