As far as credit cards go, a bunch of artists are starting to get card readers that attach to their smartphones, so I imagine we'll see a bunch of that at SDCC (they had them at Phoenix CC this past weekend).

i knew I should have purchased my tickets at the show last year. My girlfriend said that she did not want to go again and when the hotels went on sale she decided that she changed her mind. Now we have plane tickets and a room but no pass to get in.

i know your pain. i too have a room booked (i am in LA so the drive is no biggie) but no pass. i remain optimistic though...

last year i had pre-ordered my SS clone so I picked it right up, but what is the process for buying from them without a pre-order? I do not recall seeing lines or many people at the booth aside from the ones just photographing items.

If you want to pick up there, I believe that you have to pre-order. I could be wrong but I've never ordered anything from them at SDCC and been able to pick it up during the event.

When you buy tickets at the Convention for the following year, you fill out the basic info on a 'puter and swipe your credit card. There's nothing to stop you from purchasing one for your spouse or anyone else, as far as I can figure. Same as online, right? I used to grab tickets for me and the ex at the same time. It's the picking up of the badges you must do in person with ID...

You can only pick up what you've already pre-ordered. However, whatever is not picked up by others goes on sale Sunday at noon. But... it is a very long line with obviously no guarantee.

Does the SDCC cancellation policy apply to tickets for next year bought at the show? I haven't seen any preview night tickets become available again.

If it's possible to cancel, it would be wise to buy 2012 tickets on site just in case.

Yes the same rules do apply. I am not too certain but I do not think that they will re-list preview night bundles if one of those passes gets returned.

It is apparently now an exclusive thing for people who buy tickets at the show. I went the last two years to preview night and it was worse than the busiest day. You really do not know how many people walk the floor until you see the allotted amount of ticket holders (35%?) all in one room with no panels or anything taking them away from the main halls.

I am arriving on Thursday morning this year but I know I will still feel like I am missing out.

And thank you, GrueSam, for clarifying that. Hopefully I can get that Mark IV on pre-order then.

There ya go. Thank ya Sam! Never bought tickets at the show so I wasn't sure.
Help me out though, Josh, 'cause my memory isn't always the greatest.
When you buy tix online and if you have someone else's complete info, you can order for them, correct?
It's not like you have to use a different credit card for each individual order, right?

I think some forum members were able to buy tickets online for spouses, etc.

As long as you have all their info including payment info you're golden.

Thank you, mrjasontodd. I'll be buying 2012 tickets just in case then.

Sam, I bought a ticket for someone else online this year, that's not a problem. There's a maximum amount of tickets you can buy, I believe it was 4. You just need to have their info and they'll charge your card for all tickets.

You can even provide different e-mail addresses, so that your family or friends will receive their tickets on their own e-mail address.

I had to cancel one of the tickets (but keep my own); that was also not a problem.
