We started going in the same year. This is my seventh as well.
I agree listen to those that have been and plan your butt off it makes things easier. Thats one of the reasons I do my thread is to help folks who care to plan have an idea.

I work with two other peeps that are going too. Hard to schedule, but at least I can share my badge with one of them. Only problem is my name will be "Crystal" on the badge, but I'm a boy!

Ah you'd be a year ahead of me then. First started going in 05 as a college graduation gift. Was only out there for a couple days, then upped it to three, then everyday but Sunday, and this year everyday including Sunday.

Sounds like me with Celebration, I'm on the upswing and can't seem to get enough. While I burnt out on SDCC a bit and veered off into Wondercon territory. But I know 99% for sure there will be no SDCC for me again in '12 with school, money stuff, and CVI...
Have to pick and choose and my likes change way too often. But, San Diego must be experienced by those with the interest in such things.

I felt a touch burnt out a couple years ago but that was mostly letting stupid girls causing issues. Money would be really the only reason I can't make it out. I wouldn't give this up for anything really. Agreed, that this must be experienced at least once if you like this stuff.

Will there be any 1/6 scale military figures at the convention? Gonna be my first time also. How early should I be there in line to pick up my entrance pass? 6am?

If you have a single day, I'd get there by 8 at the latest. Best to get a fourday and puck up on Wednesday. Thursday passes can also be picked up Wednesday. Otherwise has to be picked up the day of.
And yes, there will be some sort of military figures at some booth there. ITS HUGE!

From what I have been reading, it sounds like you can pick up all of your individual badges early at the alternative badge pickup location, which is in Hotel Circle. If you go to the convention center you'll only be able to pickup each badge the morning of that day. You used to be able to get the 4 day pass on Wed before preview night, however now that preview has it's own pass now it sounds like you won't be able to pick up your 4 day until after preview. So, your best bet would be to get to that alternative location and pick up all your passes there.
Oh, and this will be my 3rd year. 08, 09, and this year.

i dont mind the Twilight fans. Hell, I'd rather have the stereotypical twilight fan there than the stereotypical comic-con fan because thats less competition to do/see/buy what i'd like and they also have better personal hygiene on average. Trust me, having been to cons all over the US for almost a decade straight it starts to smell like a corner bodega in the summer. Plus they make it less of a sausage fest and the average age of Twilight fanatics with independent money to go to the con is 23 so you can imagine the bar scene.
And regular four day passes should be able to pick up on preview night. They did that last year so who knows.

Yeah, maybe "hasn't been planned" was a bad choice of words. More like "not ready to be revealed." I admit, I'm a newb.
Doesn't sound fun to me at all... but then, I'm old.

I know I read it somewhere on their website that they were changing it, but I can't find it at the moment. I'll keep looking and get back to you.
