According to this NY Times article, Warner Bros., Disney and several other movie studios are pulling out of SDCC. Apparently they don't feel they are getting their monies worth.

I think that definitely plays a factor. That and just the sheer expense of it all and whether or not it's going to pay off. I was a little shocked to hear about the Scott Pilgrim fact. Definitely sounds costly to out out a decent campaign while you're there.

i am pretty sure they are referring to just big panels and focused ad campaigns. We will still see them on the floor in one form or another pushing promo SWAG for various properties. WB has been hyping CCI over on the dedicated site they made and Disney will not miss out on Marvel advertising both Captain America and Avengers.

Meh, not really concerned about those studios not having panels, there is plenty I want to see already.

Meh. I'd prefer some of the studios stay away from SDCC as it's been veering more and more away from comics over the years.

Someone posted that article the other day. Its not a big deal as the article says not everyone comes every year. If they have something to show they will come. The films they use are niche films that have a very limited audience. The bigger budget "geek" films like Batman, Supes, Thor, Iron Man, Cap, etc those types will come because they will do well with both our market and the general public.

Ok, so that was my first reaction. So what needs to be asked first is: did you both talk and come to a conclusion that both should be refunded? If not, then my initial reaction stands.

we still talk and are trying to stay friends so we considered still going but she cant afford the trip now. i have no other friends going and i wouldnt want to pop my sdcc cherry on my own. i did keep my saturday pass though. just in case.

Comic-Con via their fb page said they hope to have news on refunded badges either this week or next. Not sure if this means badges that got canceled will be up or not though.
