SW Celebration is much easier on you, isn't it? :naughty

Tell me about it Waller, Celebration is practically in my backyard. I dont regret the money or the people I met at SDCC plus it was my first time. So it was great and I had a lot of fun. Celebration will be awesome as well :hi5:

You and I must make a pact, we must bring salvation back
Where there is love, I'll be there

I'll reach out my hand to you, I'll have faith in all you do
Just call my name and I'll be there

I'll be there to comfort you,
Build my world of dreams around you, I'm so glad that I found you
I'll be there with a love that's strong
I'll be your strength, I'll keep holding on

Let me fill your heart with joy and laughter
Togetherness, well that's all I'm after
Whenever you need me, I'll be there
I'll be there to protect you, with an unselfish love that respects you
Just call my name and I'll be there

If you should ever find someone new, I know he'd better be good to you
'Cause if he doesn't, I'll be there
Don't you know, baby, yeah yeah
I'll be there, I'll be there, just call my name, I'll be there

(Just look over your shoulders, honey - oo)

I'll be there, I'll be there, whenever you need me, I'll be there
Don't you know, baby, yeah yeah

I'll be there, I'll be there, just call my name, I'll be there...

During SDCC, yes. Especially when you make your reservation for 4 people. This year I'll only make the reservation for 2. I think the SDCC rate for the hotel is around $300 per night. They don't have last years rates up anymore, so I can't compare. Unfortunately the prices at all those hotels increase for that week, and it's very difficult to make reservations at any of them for the event without going through the convention site.

$300 per night is a bit spendy. I'll just assume there are better options out there? Perhaps not walking distance though.

Better options? No. This Hotel and the Marriott are both right next to the convention center, and both are close to the same price. You still keep at the same price as long as you're within walking distance (unless the hotel has a lower rating of course). There is probably about a $20 variation in price at walking distance, but if I'm going to be within walking distance I would prefer to be as close as possible so I can quickly make drop offs.

However, if you're talking strictly price, then yes there are cheaper options. The cheapest is a little ways away and you would have to take a shuttle or a train in each day. I think those are around $150 per night. Maybe even $200.

I have stayed at The Marriott the last two years and at a random Holiday Inn uptown my first year attending in '09 and I have to admit that after staying RIGHT THERE where the action is I can't go anywhere else next year, but I am interested in the Hilton Gaslamp since I found it a bit of a hassle going from the con, to my hotel, to the bars, then back one or two times in a single night to change or whatever and having to deal with the people traffic, car traffic and train traffic crossing the main road.

For people that fly into San Diego from the east coast, how much would you say you spent after it's all said and done.

In just travel? Last year was $900 for hotel (Marriott for three nights with taxes) and $1000 round trip flight for two from Philadelphia. I lucked out this year and booked my flight early for $725 and I *hope* I can get the Hilton Gaslamp which is generally $40 a night cheaper.

Yeah, I was talking about price wise.

We stayed at the Marriott last year (connected to the convention center) and it was about $245 a night I think.

We want to go again this year but not sure, planning on buying a house too.

If you go though it is well worth spending the extra money to get a hotel right next to the convention center. I would never go if I had to take a bus every day.

The Hilton Gaslamp would be my 3rd or 4th choice. The only problem I have with it is that if you want to quickly unload you have to wait for the crosswalk and/or trains to go by. Not to mention the huge crowds of people waiting to cross with you.

Hilton Bayfront and Marriott are the easiest by far. I remember them being about the same price in the system. The $1600 was also after taxes and fees that aren't quoted in the normal pricing.

Yeah, if I go, I might do this too. It will be my first time so I want everything to go smoothly without hassles. I guess the $1600 sticker shock threw me for a bit. An extra $400 and I could get a balcony suite on a 7-day cruise.

I plan on going next year, this will be my first Comic-Con I've ever attended so I'm very much looking forward to it! Not sure if I'm going to drive or fly, I live in Milpitas so San Diego is about 7-8 hours of driving vs. about an hour of flight time. If anybody who also lives in California has any tips let me know please!

I think we stayed from Wed to Monday last year at the Marriott and it cost around $1200 for just the hotel.

As a n00b last year and not knowing how the Wed night offsite pick up worked, I would go AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Our flight got in later so we had to go around 7, and it took us an hour to get there because of rush hour and just the massive amount of people there. If we go again this year, we are coming in Tuesday night or really early Wednesday.

My drive from Phx is about 6 hours. I left early in the morning and made it to the Hotel right before they let people pick up their badges. We stayed Wed through Sun. If we can we'll try to hit up Disneyland on Mon and Tue beforehand and drive down from LA on Wed.

If you can't get preview night during the registration, then you'll want to plan on getting to the alternative pick up location as early as possible. Once you have your badges you can then head to your hotel. Since I always do preview night I check into my hotel early then go sit in line to get badges and wait for the floor to open.

Thanks for the tip! :1-1:

Yep, I just got mine as well.

We have until Dec 2 to complete our registration. My guess is that they will open general registration shortly after that.

And I just finished the registration. So now it's a month wait before I get my barcode.

Also, it looks like you'll have to have one of these ID's to get your badges and reserve your hotel. And the only way to get the ID is to get a badge. So my assumption is that general registration will be like the pre-registration. You will purchase your badge, they send you a confirm #, you will use that confirm # to create a user name/login, once you finish the registration they will send you your barcode needed to get your badge. From there your ID will be tagged as attending thus allowing you to make a hotel reservation. It also looks like they will eventually allow you to apply for different types of registrations (professional, press, exhibitor, etc) then send in your qualifying materials. It will be interesting to see how this system works/evolves.

Let's just get this damn thing started already. I'm ready to get my arse on a plane and get out there to have some fun again. Whatever the cost it turns out to be from year to year is worth it to me and then some. Its better than christmas really.
