I just realized that with the release of X-Men: The Last Stand these pieces are no longer necessarily such "niche" products. The appeal could be a little more mainstream now that movie goers have seen the X-Men do battle with (and dismember no less) a giant Sentinel. Collosus, Beast and Kitty Pryde also played roles not only in the last film but in the Danger Room Sentinel battle as well (minus Beast of course). Add to that the fact that pages from Astonishing X-Men were also seen flipping through the Marvel logo at the beginning of the movie.

It'll be interesting to watch the demand for these dioramas.

I think only us geeks notice such things. :D

I guess I'm not that much of a geek since I didn't notice. Though I will certainly look for it next time I watch it.

Dude, get a grip. Yes they are. Just because people will shell out 10 bucks to see a movie, there is no correlation to be made that they'll spend hundreds on comic book statues of those characters. This stuff is strictly geek fodder. That said, I strongly encourage membership in the geek club.:rotfl :rotfl

Just because you buy this kind of stuff, it means youre a geek?

Depends on your definition. They vary widely. By my definition? Yep. Unless you're strictly buying to flip that is. My definition of what comprises a geek is probably less derogatory than most though.

Same here. I generalize the term geek as someone that's a hardcore fan of something not necessarily widely accepted as cool (SW, LOTR, Comics, etc) or even movies. If you have way to much knowledge of it you are a "geek" of whatever it is you are discussing. Nothing wrong with it.

Honestly I really don't know much of the trivial stuff about SW, I havent even read any of the LOTR books, and I have never read any comics, just collected some for a time since my cousins were into it when we were kids.

I just buy this stuff since I think they look cool and I like the characters.

Maybe im just an aviation geek then...

:huh

Yeah, I follow what you are saying. The way I see it, I think that things like comics, comic statues, heated SW discussions and such are not as commonly accepted in our culture as professional sports for example. Most times they are ridiculed and considered as a waste of time to be passionate about them because they are not "real" and is all make believe.

Which to me makes it even more ironic that as Hollywood has run out of ideas to make movies, comics material (not comics themselves) has become "cool". All of the sudden a wider audience has become more excited about the next blockbuster comic book movie and more accepting of concepts for shows like Smallville or Heroes as they become ratings hits.

Trekkies are a good example of geeks. You wear Spock ears into a Star Trek convention...hell you attend a ST convention and you'll be labelled a geek. Buddies and I used to put latex bullet holes on our foreheads with fake blood dripping down for midnight showings of dawn of the dead when I was in college. Geek! Actually bordering on lahoooser!:chew

great ES, that's one of the main things that I love Sideshow.
If the manufacturer was Gentle giant, then they would make an ES of 2000 for the first one is valuable now

...or it would be a convention exclusive that's impossible to get.
