Queen of the Vampires is on my to get list, just had to many PO's at the time maybe 2014
Do you have her in hand yet? would like to get your thoughts on her

I would Love to see made Aaliyah/Queen Akasha from Queen of the Damned

My thinking is there is no point in spending $400+ on the statue when you can look at the pictures for free... not really much difference.

I'll put an addendum to it that its ok as long as you actually have some like for the character but just some random "hot chick" (like the GG Honey Trap line) I don't see the point.

To each his own I guess - but its nice to have variety instead of the same character over and over again in a slightly new pose.

Just because the Queen of the Dead is not a comic book character doesnt mean the creative beauty isnt there and worth collecting

Cool thread.
Thought i'd find you in here Al :nana:

Bought Vampirella PF and ordered Red Sonja purely because they both look beautiful. I know who they are but never read anything about them.

Nowt wrong with the odd bit of female polystone in a collection.
Big C likes lots! :lol

I've never once purchased a character I didn't have some connection to, never purchased a statue just because of 'sex appeal', and I've also never purchased anything purely because of hype or popularity. Every choice I make in my collecting is a considered one.

To me, just from my own point of view, those are pretty much the stupidest possible reasons to lay down the type of serious cash it takes to collect this kind of stuff, and I'll never understand people who buy based on any of that. Because every piece I own is a representation of who I am and what my own personal tastes are. My collection is a reflection of me, and some of the (fictional) things that I love. It's not done to impress or appeal to anyone else, or to join in with whatever happens to be popular or hyped up at one particular moment in time or another. And I honestly don't see the point in spending so much money for any of those kinds of reasons.

But hey, that said, I also understand that everyone is different, and everyone collects on their own terms. So while I may never understand some of my fellow collectors reasons, and some may even seem downright crazy to me from my own point of view, at the end of the day to each their own. Your money, your choice how to spend it. That's how I look at it, anyway.

By the way, I'm actually not trying to insult anyone in saying any of this, just trying to explain my own point of view, so if it comes across as insulting in any way at all, it's not intentional. Just because I personally don't 'get it' as to why anyone would buy characters they don't know, or buy based purely on sex appeal or hype or whatever, doesn't mean that I have a problem with those that choose to do so. :)

Anyone buying a statue simply because it's looks sexy or for 'sex appeal' has (imo) bigger problems than not knowing about the history of the character :lol. No offence meant to anyone, I just find it a bizarre reason to buy, each to their own though I guess.

I owned in excess of 25 female statues at one point and none were bought for 'sex appeal', I bought them because they were beautiful, sculpted masterpieces of Art, but Art is subjective so we all like different things and what I like, others may not and vice versa.
I guess my point is that (imo) buying a statue simply for 'sex appeal' is crazy, again imo.

May I just add that we are a family forum so if any pictures are posted please make sure that they are appropriate for a pg13 forum.
You would be surprised some of the pervy plastic that has been posted here in the past, all in the name of art of course.

Sexy is not always nekkid, classy is better (imo).
x :wave

I agree to disagree gents. I may be the minority here but I don't believe one has to understand the entire background of a character or have read every comic they are represented in to be considered a righteous and deserving fan. There are several characters I own that I don't have the faintest clue about and to me the story behind the character isn't the most important part of deciding on whether or not to purchase. Art is in the eye of the beholder. If a statue strikes someone as appealing or beautifully sculpted isn't that enough to justify their purchase? Why do I have to know everything about the character to feel a connection to them? Maybe the sculpt is just so well done and appealing to the eye that the background doesn't matter to some? Just my thoughts of course and to each their own.

On to my hot chicks collection thread

1. Lady Death
2. Vampirella
3. Shaak Ti
4. Red Sonya
5. Queen of the Dead (does anyone know a thing about her other then the
small comic on the SS website!?)
6. To be continued because undoubtedly I will buy more hot chicks I know nothing about!!

Great thread btw! Glad you started it. Will post my new purchases proudly

These are tangible, 3 dimensional artworks, so I've come to an understanding that some might want to spend large amounts of money to own these statues because of the visual appeal. I wouldn't spend this much money on things I don't know the history of, don't know what they represent, etc., but there isn't a thing wrong with doing so. They're just characters, for the most part.

As a comic reader, player of video games and watcher of movies, for me it's all about the character (although sculpt is just as important...I'm not buying a sculpt I think is bad just because I love the character). My major focus is Marvel, particularly Spider-Man, X-Men and Avengers, DC mainly focused on Batman, and Legend of Zelda from F4F.

I'm not that far off from 30 and I've been reading these characters for over 20 years, so the majority of my life at this point. I know everyone I buy. Pick a piece and I can give you some detail about the character you probably never knew unless you've also been reading the character for over 20 years.

Because I know these characters, I WON'T buy some of them. Take Red Skull for example. The new PF tempts me... I like Captain America, this is his go to villain, makes sense right? I have numerous comics with Skull in them, because I wanted to enjoy the stories. He always looses, anyway, and he's often a blast to read. I spent that money. But to buy a representation of him on a statue level and display it... a thing that represents racism and hate to its very core... I'll read it because it makes him an excellent, top level villain, but it's just not something I want to display. No swastikas on my shelves. And I don't knock anyone who has the old PF or is getting the new one at all, this is just an example of my informed opinions about my purchases because I do know what I'm dealing with.
