Batman hasn't had a stand alone movie in this universe, and yes, out of all DC films since MOS, this is something I actually have a mild interest in.

Just got back. Enjoyed every second. 110% more cheese than I expected. Just a spoiler warning in case anyone is sensitive to that stuff, but I’m not going to tell anything too plot related. The movie is very light, full blown cgi creatures featured prominently which surprised me. Sort of a mix between page Master, power rangers and super bad. Very funny and heartwarming. MOST of the movie centered around the kid and his story about family and blah blah, but I was shockingly into it. The cast is great, everybody was lovable. I don’t know much about Shazam but for anyone hoping for some deep important or serious mythology will be dissapointed. It takes the hero vs villain and wizards very lightly and loosely. Mark strong is just a bad guy with a rediculous plan. The exposition is weak and overdone. “Oh this is how you defeat the villain because xyz!” This typical “superhero plot” is clearly put more in the background putting the family drama right up front. This is done really well and allows for a very family friendly movie that I can see being a great Christmas tradition for me. That being said the action is never full stop or top notch. It never becomes a full on action extravaganza, but there are some fun action set pieces and great surprises. The movie is very cgi heavy with outrageous stuff happening towards the end. A couple side notes. Turns out it’s set in philly and I watched it right where most of the fights were happening! I smoked a joint and brought two beers in,so maybe I was just in a good mood. I don’t get the post credits. But I LOVED THE pre credit stinger. I want more Shazam ASAP ! Bring your kids they will love it ! Even young kids which is a nice change for this genre. The crowd cheered at least twice , and the second cheer they were going wild and I think a lot of fans on here will as well.

Not too far fetched really. The captain marvel thread was self destructing. People are boycotting Star Wars. James gun was fired and rehired for guardians, but will now also be making a suicide squad 2 movie. I’ve heard countless times “after endgame I don’t think I’ll have much interest”. Hell, in retrospect dceu has a hell of an origins lineup: Man of Steel ( hated it at first now it’s one of my favorites) Wonderwoman, Aquaman , and Shazam. Not bad , not bad at all. Especially when compared to captain America 1, thor1, doctor strange , captain marvel. There’s plenty of room for both so it’s no big deal in reality, I hope they both start making better movies for our sake (I mean come on, captain marvel is clearly a 6/10 movie that’s straight ridin on fans loyalty) I’d say aquaman and Shazam are a step in the right direction. Either way I don’t get tired of seeing superhero’s on the big screen, so bring on he competition.

Not to mention there is Todd Phillips/ Joaquin pheonix Joker movie coming out. And James Wan and Patty Jenkins will most likely put a lot of love into their franchises.

Anybody got the DC Universe app, they are rerunning the original tv series of Shazam from the 70s . I was watching some of it the other day..what a kick that was

So not true.

Early on, DC was bigger than Marvel. If Marvel had copied any of the DC Superheroes, then DC would've sued Marvel. In fact, DC sued the comic company that created Shazam (Captain Marvel back then) because he had powers very similar to Superman. Fawcett Comics had to shelve Shazam when DC won the suit ...only for DC to license Shazam from Fawcett Comics years later.

Marvel didn't want to get sued. So they had to come up with their own superheroes. That's how we got the Fantastic Four, Avengers, X-Men, Spider-Man, etc. And it was Marvel that came up with the idea to make their superheroes fallible ...making them more relatable to readers. DC copied that idea from Marvel.

Over the years DC and Marvel copied from each other here and there ...no secret there .... but don't pretend like most Marvel superheroes are copies of DC superheroes. They're not. Otherwise Marvel wouldn't have succeeded ...DC would've sued them to submission.

With regards to who has the most interesting characters, that's highly subjective.

Not that i rate RT but it started at 97% now its sitting at 95%. What counts though is reviewers on youtube love it. No mixed opinions so far just all love.

I was crying the whole time. I love this movie so much. It’s up there with Donner’s Superman, Dark Knight and Burton’s Batman. I love the MCU, but so many of these movies are pumped out a year, I thought I was dead on the inside. This actually made me feel like a kid again.

Went and watched this tonight and am Blown away by how much I enjoyed it. So much wasn't spoiled by the Trailers.
