The armor on every single Marmit is soft. I suppose you may not have any Hot Toys or SSC troopers. They're made from malleable vinyl and lack the edge detailing and sharpness of the two releases I mentioned. Don't know what to tell you if you don't see that - I have all of them and it's a generally known fact about the Marmit parts.

This is correct. I will add one exception; the Hot Toys helmet lacks some sharpness and edge detail due to the coat of gloss white paint and inadequate definition of certain sculpt details; in this respect Marmit's sharpness is on par or even slightly superior notably around the lens ridges; the Marmit sandtrooper can have some pretty sharp edge detail on the diamond shaped knee plate as well, but this can vary. (I've had about a dozen or so Marmits in-hand at one time or another).

I'm in the process of kit-bashing Marmit and Hot Toys parts and there is simply no comparison between the chest armour between the two releases, to give you one example.

Yeah, definitely prefer the Marmit (especially helmet - not a fan of the HT one) but the armor without a doubt is a slightly softer sculpt than the HT and the Marmit armor is also noticeably thicker, making it out of scale when you see the edges, which I notice in every HT/Marmit side-by-side.

But Marmit is a hands-down win in the helmet - side-by-side with my HT stormie, my cast Marmit sandie helmet (used for a custom stormie) looks closer to screen. Even 15 years later, Marmit still rules in that department.

Maybe it's a stupid question but does anybody have any idea of how to keep the marmit armor from splitting? Ever since I saw one of my chest plates split, I've always been a little weary.

Oh also, anybody know anything about the new bandai stormy helmets that came out? If so, what you think?

You mean with handling/removing armor from body or it just split over time while on display? They are 15 years old and vinyl so maybe that's a factor.

Thats an insane collection! Still looking for a dewback for my Sandies. Brilliant mate
Thanks!

ST, awesome setup.
Thank you.

Awesome collection. Where's the photo of Jabba with robocop?
Thank you! No single pic, it's just there on the upper shelf on the right.

Looks great!:)
Thanks!

Awesome collection dude!

That's a nice custom Bespin Han there, any more pics of him?

Not at the moment but the recipe is similar to Talibane except maybe for trousers (customized HT Gordon) and holster belt (HT Han).

I have a Marmit, a SSC and 3 HT Stormies. I like them all, but as said above Marmit still holds so well regarding helmet sculpt after all these years.

Ok... I think I'm not interested in a helmet that isn't going to go on a figure - so I'm thankful all the figures I'm interested in already come with heads and helmets.

They all look odd , mis-proportioned and out of scale to me, more along the lines of what I might expect to be given away for free at McDonald's and not something sold for $8ea or a set of 6 for $50.

Well, I picked one up after seeing a pic of a stormy helmet next to a dollar. It looks like it's in scale, but we'll see.
Every single stormy helmet I see looks off in some way, except marmits

They're not in scale with each other and there's no published scale, so it's possible one might turn out 'close enough' - they're each approximately "2.75"

Just bought the 3PO one to replace my Tamashii's head.:yess:

Got my bandai stormy helmet today and I gotta say, it's pretty small and doesn't look all that hot. I'm pretty bummed out.

The Tomy Stormtrooper helmet is one of their worst.

Yeah the best ones are the ATAT, Biker and Lando Skiff helmet, even if they're all too small for actual 1/6. Biker and Skiff helmets are a little off sculpt-wise but the ATAT one is excellent.

I own the AT-AT Driver from Tomy and indeed is one of their best. It is 1/7 so unusable for larger 1/6 figures, but still a cool display on its own with the small chestbox too
