I, for one, am happy that I got the PT on BlueRay. They make great coasters for my friends drinks when I have movie nights. I use the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull BlueRay disk as well. I'm sorry, I don't care what anyone says, I'm convinced Lucas directed (& probably wrote) that horrid movie.

There's the perception from ANH the C-3PO is nearly useless on a planet like Tatooine. Let's just selectively forget that as well. Anakin spent all of his time creating a robot that had nothing useful to offer.

Sorry, the PT is not Star Wars. Not at all. Mankind would be better off if all evidence of it were wiped from out collective minds and history. Since that's not possible, let all three movies serve as painful reminders of the darkest moments in cinematic history, that should never be repeated again.

I've gradually come to accept it as the official canon when viewing the SW saga as a whole... but when actually watching the OT itself I still do everything I can to put it completely out of my mind.

Which actually isn't that hard surprisingly, given that the two trilogies are so totally different in tone and feel and quality. And given that it's just never felt to me at all like the true history of the world and characters we're watching in the OT.

I only ever had TPM and ROTS on DVD. Could not bring myself to own AOTC. Imagine if you were found dead in your house by relatives with that in your cabinet. I'd rather they found my complete internet history than a copy of that film. Last week I hid TPM and ROTS from my kids as they have just hit the age where they are able to turn on and load up the TV without any assistance, ie: they've just surpassed all their grandparents on the technological ability scale. I should just donate them to the goodwill shop.
They've seen the original trilogy a bunch of times and often ask about the clone wars, and I just tell em' they were great times but you have to use your imagination to think about exactly how great they were. Which is true. From a certain point of view..

Excellent! :clap :rotfl

I understand most people don't like that Anakin built Threepio deal... but it was in his germinating and in his notes as early as the first film for Threepio's background.
Built on Affa, and assembled in a junk shop by a young boy. The original notes mentioning this were in the Hardcover edition of the Rinzler's Making of Star Wars.
I buy it. I think with creating the prequels, there where a lot more story problems than the 3PO Anakin deal.

Fair enough points on the Anakin point., Not trying to start an argument... but they do have historic province. They where written for background Circa 78 for any further merchandising/novels etc. Threepio was mass marketed but ended up junked. I recall the Affa planet mentioned way back on an early model kit. Revell I think?. One of the first model companies around 1980 or slightly before.
I'm the first to admit Lucas is a recreationist of the first order, but this one I recall, which is why I bought it up. The typed up notes by Carol Titleman can be found on Google books. Han, Leia, The force, etc, all had backgrounds explained. You can find them genuine or not... if they're "modern" creations, it seems pointless to have so many other varying conflicting in them. Daley used Lucas's notes for the Radio Drama, as per the background, in that Threepio has just metArtoo.

I recall when readers of the Marvel comics where upset because the adaptation used numbers for the droids, not the written version....

The True History of Star Wars is an excellent source for how the saga evolved.

I only have I & III on DVD too. The OT I have in VHS though... I ought to upgrade one day.
Just saw II again the other day. I still cringe at it. Only thing I liked was Jango's two fights. And even they don't hold up to what I remember anymore...

I think II is my least favorite too. I remember being so put off with TPM in the theatre that I just waited until AOTC was a rental. Somehow I got excited for ROTS, and it was better, but still really didn't do all that much for me either. I sometimes rewatch them but afterward can't figure out why. :lol

The image from the Sideshow page show a big dent under his right "pec" (chest).

Oh, it might be a different prototype, older or newer (don't know) or may be the final production piece. Definitely odd to be missing the dent as he seemed to originally be a post-Tusken attack version. It would be odd to use the exclusive ripped arm without the complimentary dents, the other being on his head.

Seems to be missing lots of paint on the wire section. Maybe the production process starts with a normal chest plate, and then there's a sand person down the line with a small hammer and he adds the dent.

That sounds totally plausible and could be the reason behind some of the slow production this year. Those Tuskens are hard to staff, always calling in sick or some other excuse.
