Hopefully that isn't a production piece as I'm not very impressed with that picture. I need a 3PO but I may need to get the Tamashii version if this doesn't come out better.

That's a dark picture.... but I sure hope the production paint is not that dull. That's like Raiders "Ark" dull gold.

Proto never had that dent in the ***.

Yeah, pic fixed up a bit below. The C3-Leno chin is pretty obvious (especially for such a low angle pic) but this is a fig I can't wait to have in-hand.:yess:

The Tama is my ESB version, the SSC will be my ROTJ Jabba Palace version and the inevitable HT will be - hopefully - my ANH version.

The production finish (which should be reflective chrome with weathering, not dull spray-on gold) and the actual functionality of the elbow articulation (potentially too fragile and clogged by weathering) have always been the major question marks with this fig. A Raiders dull ark finish will be a bummer, but the ROTJ 3PO finish was along those lines, so may be okay for me.

Before anyone starts to go into chicken little mode ;-) ....this pic was taken many many months ago (I think possibly even over a year ago). This is not a fresh -off-the-line C-3PO droid. This is basically a behind-the-scenes photo taken and we're posting up through our social channels.

I don't believe any of this baloney at all either. I just started watching TPM earlier today with my son and it only takes a few seconds to know that the production is going to be bad. When you're a few lines into the initial crawl it's painfully obvious you're not going to be watching a Star Wars movie. We got as far as the trade federation landing in Naboo when my wife got home with my daughter and I gladly gave up on the TV. It was excruciatingly painful up to that point.

It's actually pretty interesting to compare the crawl text of the six existing movies, so I'm eager to see what they do with the seventh. The first three read like forms you might find at the DMV or the minimal instructions given with an income tax form. The original movies read like a fun space fantasy action/adventure introduction.

Sorry, the PT is not Star Wars. Not at all. Mankind would be better off if all evidence of it were wiped from out collective minds and history. Since that's not possible, let all three movies serve as painful reminders of the darkest moments in cinematic history, that should never be repeated again.

would you mind if I get that last paragraphed tattooed on my body?

Thanks for clarifying!

Seems like these days one bad pic and things go into tailspin mode (I'm looking at you, Jango...) Because we're only a month or two from ship date, people get a bit jumpy.:lol

It says Copyright 2014 down in the bottom left corner, and it looks like a show picture.

So I'm guessing then that the ones with the dents are newer and closer to what we will be getting ?

By the way, I hope that's not the stand we get, it's too high and would make it difficult to pose with R2

Thanks for the clarification Alex, it's what I kind of figured, what with the missing details, including the paint scrape to the left of R2's "eye."

I'm starting to think that more metallic finish we saw in the earlier con photos was just a trick of the lighting or photography...

Although who knows, maybe there's a simple way to improve the paint ourselves with a bit of rub & buff or something.

I definitely need a 3PO in my collection. When I saw him at SDCC I did not have a problem with the paint finish so I hope that it maintains through production. I really want him to look like metal, not gold painted plastic...

Well, it should have what was advertised when they asked for preorders, otherwise like Jango and Han Hoth and Luke Hoth this will be cancelled.

I love having HT as a back-up now on things like this.
