Well, it should have what was advertised when they asked for preorders, otherwise like Jango and Han Hoth and Luke Hoth this will be cancelled.

I love having HT as a back-up now on things like this.
The only thing is I wonder how far off a 3PO and R2 from Hot Toys will be. It doesn't seem like they're coming soon or I think they'd have been announced already. I'm guessing they'll wait a while since Sideshow's 3PO is coming soon. Although I guess Sideshow doing a Vader didn't stop them from doing their own.

Except SSC's Vader shipped right at the start of January 2014 and the HT Vader (which is also from a different movie) won't ship until later this year. That's pretty much a 2 year spread. Fett's similar release is even greater than 2 years. It's actually a similar story with 3PO from Medicom, Tama and SSC. Not surprising considering most of the sales are through SSC either directly or via distribution.

Sideshow n hot toys are good dancin bussiness partners trying not to step each others toe's n release's on same figure's.

I think the pre-order page has always said November. Hopefully there aren't any long delays. I'm hoping it comes out good even though I'm sort of iffy on it.

While it does have a slight thunder thighs thing going, the entire SSC body looks better than the Tama to me, obviously except the sculpted/painted wires/torso. It's more slender too.

The finish is unknown at this point - some pics it's looked perfect, others it does look like the dreaded Home Depot gold spray.

The head isn't looking like a bullseye at all, but if the finish has enough reflectivity you won't notice the sculpt issues much. Still unclear on how the eyes light up though - closer pics seem to suggest it's a backlit photo/decal (Tama is more like the actual costume's eyes.)

The bendable fingers is such a cool idea and can't wait to play with the elbow articulation. C'mon, Sideshow - let's get this shipped!:clap:yess:

The torso and lack of real wiring is one of the biggest knocks I have against the Sideshow version compared to the Tamashii one. That aspect just looks way better on the Tamashii figure.

The recent pic with the unpainted wires didn't help that perception either.

While I get the "behind the scenes" intention, if you've cut a corner, probably best not to show it like that.

There are better photos of 3PO they could have shown. Kind of absent minded on sideshow's part at this stage of the game when we're hoping for some final or close to final production photos.
I have the Tama, but will still keep this order to check it out in hand. The only thing I have a problem with is the chin. Not surprised they didn't change it, but disappointed nonetheless.

Why are they promoting an old picture ? Thats just asking for trouble

We'll be digging up older photos all the time for our social channels. Why? Because there's a plethora of behind-the-scenes stuff we're wanting to share with folks. :)

Actual production updates will continue to happen as they have been for months (updated galleries and emails to those that purchased XYZ item and blog posts).

It would be cool to see 3PO unpainted like how Sideshow showed the Speeder Bike behind the scenes pic. It really showed the detail in the sculpt work that is a little obscured by the paints and finishes in the final item.

I'll have to pass on this, I've had countless figures from SS and they've all broke in some sort of way
I think it's the cheap brittle plastic they use its really really poor just look at example r2d2
I'd much rather have hot toys make him (them r2d2) he'd be a lot more solid

But I'll have to make do with my tamashii image.jpegimage.jpeg

Would love to get him. Tamashii looks like an amazing figure. Nice pics, thanks for sharing.

There nothing brittle about the plastics on R2. A certain kind of plastic doesn't change its properties because someone else puts different paint and their name on it. ABS is ABS, Polystyrene is Polystyrene, Polycarbonate is Polycarbonate, etc. It's all a matter of selecting the right type of the part - do you want textured or smooth/glass finish? Does it need to be impact resistant? Moving parts? How thin does it need to be? Apart from putting too many extras into R2 and making him too small, Sideshow seems to have done a good job with materials selection.

And all the loose panels that constantly come open. This drives me nuts. HT's makes a good R2D2 and the SSC one is getting donated to some needy kid.

Something like that could be posted in the future for sure! :)
