This came out pretty nice - I'm keeping my order. Can't wait to have this in-hand to compare to the Tama.

Finish looks good, not great - but it's certainly no SSC Ark. Looking forward to more pics.

Head's off in a few ways, but it was that way in the proto. I'm planning what I'll do to lessen the issues. Mouth's too narrow (has a bit of "blow-up doll" look) and seems placed a smidge too high, the eye pupils seem too small (might just be that pic though) and the neck stalks point inward way too much (hopefully they can be moved.) Overall though the head looks decent, especially if he can look down enough to hide that Leno chin.

The eye decals actually look good in that pic.

With Gillian Anderson's chin.

:lol

This looks good so far from that one pic. I have the Tama and have this on pre-order but really need to cancel this. I don't need two 3POs right now and don't think this one will top the Tama outside of the hands and the fact that it's weathered. I think the only thing the Tama beats it in is the head (which is pretty important) and the belly wires. Neither wire section looks very accurate, but they looked like an absolute mess in ANH and I'd rather them not be too accurate. The SS wires look a bit closer to the ROTJ wires to me.

Yeah, 3PO's head is a very difficult one to nail and Tama certainly came closer, but I'm still not convinced the SSC painted belly wires are a big issue yet. I like the wires on the Tama but they feel scary delicate when posing him.

This 3P0 will be going next to Jabba & his throne. My Tama is just way too clean for that kind of work.

:goodpost: Straight into my Jabba dio for this guy.:yess:

My charge notice from Sideshow indicates a payment in the first week of january, so hopefully shipment to Australia is usually a day or so after that. So should get it within the next week or so. Will definitely do a video review comparing the new Sideshow with the previous Tamashii version.

I'll have to caveat the review with no intention of comparing screen accuracy just in case any anally-retentive collectors start giving me too much grief on how I shouldn't be comparing two figures if I dont have enough knowledge on screen accuracy again lol

Great! I like your reviews - in this case I'll probably have 3PO in hand at the same time you do.

Before the Tama was announced, I heavily customized my Hasbro 3PO (including an attempt to rebuild the head) so inadvertantly became a 3PO "scholar.":slap:lol

I don't know to me the wiring being sculpted and painted on this figure gives it a bit more of a toyish look rather than a high end collectible look. It's honestly probably the part of this figure that bothers me the most.

hmmmm The weathering looks like somebody went apenutz with a thick paintbrush and slopped it around the body and heavily applied around the panel lines. It looks really good from a wide shot in the first pic though. Have to wait till in hand to judge for sure.

The metallic sheen looks great aside from the thick weathering! If the plastic is finished and sealed with the gold maybe the panels can be cleaned up with a light rub of solvents. I was able to clean up the probe droid with some sloppy silver coating that way.

Thanks for posting pics Holo!

The finish maybe works for the ANH oil bath scene but overall it feels very ROTJ 3PO to me, which is perfect as this is my throne room 3PO. The Tama looked ESB in color and finish to me.

there are so many things I can't wait to have a close look at on this figure - the eyes, the articulation, the fingers.

That weathering looks like a mixture of pad-printed streaking (very defined, no color variation) and some obviously freehanded brushing on the chest.

Those close-ups are a bit brutal, but yeah, the effect works from a distance.

A lot of the weathering looks like it's applied too clean to come across naturally in my opinion. Looks okay but I'm not totally wowed by it. Seems like it'll look okay further away but close up its iffy.

Hmmm...Well...Hmmm...Definitely heavy handed on the weathering and not very refined, if there is such a thing as refined weathering. Hands still look big to me. Maybe I should hunt down a die cast 3PO.

As a model builder I think the weathering is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE...I mean, it's REALLY BAD and doesn't make sense. I hope it looks better in-hand cause some of the pictures above makes me want to cancel the thing!

Did they use a brown Sharpie?!

Hopefully the oil streaks can be cleaned off. Some are fine. But the streaks rolling down the side of his head kinda have a "bleeding out the eyes" feel to it.
