Yes the weathering is going to need some dialling back. I'd back myself to do a better job than what's shown in these pics and I'm a novice.

The hands do look a little big. The belly wires look fine and actually look like there's more going on than what I remember from the prototype pics. I really am just fighting the urge to cancel at this point. Really would love to see it in hand, but there have been so many figures released this month and none of those 3PO pics are convincing me that it will look better (just because it's weathered) than the Tama. Weathering up close doesn't look so hot, but this shot is pretty nice. Pistons and leg articulation look nice too (another one-up on the Tama).

This could be camera distortion - look how big R2's feet look as well.

SSC R2 looks short even next to SSC 3PO.:(

I looked to see if there were any more photos but couldn't even find these four from the address in the pictures.

In the first one the perspective makes Threepioo look as big as Vader.

In the second it's hard to judge how much taller Artoo would be if he were upright.

I'm not judging this as potentially better or worse than the Tamashii, but as an alternate version - dents, grime and the one-armed look.

I just put SS Artoo in a pose matching the one in the photo, and next to the Tamashii he looks to be at the same level as the Sideshow Threepio.

So chances are that the SS and Tamashii are the same height.

Yeah, just speaking for myself. I don't have space for multiple 3POs right now unfortunately. So curious to check this one out, but know I should cancel since I have one already. Only a few days left until it charges. :gah: I could just forget that I ordered it and deal with it when it arrives.

Me too.

I find it hard to cancel once I've had something on order for so long. There has to be something really drastically off.

The Tama is nice, but he'll always be Yavin ceremony shiny.

I like the colour and weathered appearance on this new one (apart from the dodgy paint between the pectoral plates). It'll almost be like having a new character, rather than a duplicate figure.

And this is exactly what you'll do :lol

It's so tempting. As soon as I saw these pics I nearly went to SS and canceled, not cause of any issue with the photos but because it made it clear the figure is imminent. My last option was too switch it to flex to give myself another couple of weeks to cancel. If someone did a word cloud with all my recent posts on this figure I think cancel would be the largest word. Honestly it's the stupid exclusive (which is now on waitlist) and the fact that I already applied a coupon to the order which has me further hesitating. That's their dirty trick. :banghead

:lol if you can afford to keep the order, keep it. I only cancelled mine because I'm having to draw a line with the OT cast all coming out in a rush. On the other side of that sad, lonely line are the jawas and SSC 3PO.

And with all this logic I'm sure SS would get more sales if they got rid of the NRDs.

NRDs take the fun out of pre-ordering, because it makes you wait until it's coupon eligible.

If there's no NRD you can go ahead and have the satisfaction of 'securing' your figure, regardless that you'll be cancelling and re-ordering with a code.

With the NRDs I put things off, and new things are revealed and I'm less tempted to go back and order the things I wanted in the first place. :lol

Hmmm.... really disappointed in how cartoonish the weathering looks. But, as people have said, those are really up-close pics. I hope the overall effect in-hand is better. But.... still... for the cost I think the paint job is pretty below standard. I really liked the weathering on R2, too.

If you liked the weathering on R2 you should like this. As you say, it won't look as bad from a regular distance. Having said that I wasn't at all impressed with R2's weathering and I got rid of almost all of it.

Shame about the poor weathering (the line under the "nose" looks really wonky) but it may look OK in the cabinet.

Compared to the prototype weathering, the production version looks like it was done by blind monkeys using felt tip pens.

I canceled mine a few weeks ago to much going on and did not need another threepo right now. I have the Tamashii version and that`s enough for right now
