Wow not digging the pics :( I'm so tempted to cancel and already have the Tama. I would hate to get this then see hot toys release one. Will hot toys for sure release one or let SSC keep it. Decisions decisions !

Keeping mine. I need a 3PO bad and when HT makes their droids I'll upgrade to them. But until then I'll enjoy these keeping my HT ANH line company.

I agree with everyone else that the weathering is really poor. It's really disappointing. I'm not going to cancel because the only other C-3PO I have is a Hasbro and I think the sculpt itself looks pretty good.

The metallic sheen looks great aside from the thick weathering! If the plastic is finished and sealed with the gold maybe the panels can be cleaned up with a light rub of solvents. I was able to clean up the probe droid with some sloppy silver coating that way.

This is what I am hoping for. If the weathering can be removed (or lightened) without taking off the "metallic sheen" there is real good potential for some custom weathering which could take it to a new level without much work.

I too am hopeful the weathering can be "dulled down" a bit, it looks awful. The rest of the figure looks very nice.

You would think that will all the time, money and engineering that went into this, Sideshow wouldn't "half-ass" the final steps. I dunno.

Wow, some of these shots sure do make 3PO look kind of freakish (weathering, big hands and lower jaw stand out to me the most). Another thing that is bugging me is his posture. Tamashii did a great job replicating 3PO's "S" posture but SSC's seems rigidly straight. Lot of this stuff could just be forced perspective issues, though.

Yup. So glad I cancelled this and got the Tamashii Nations one. I knew the Sideshow one wouldn't even come close.

Yeah this one is a tough call for me. On the one hand I want a 3PO but this figure does seem to have a number of issues. Only alternative at the moment is paying a lot more for the Tamashii figure or waiting for Hot Toys to do their version. I feel like Hot Toys will do their version from The Force Awakens though which I don't necessarily want the red arm look to be my sole representation of the character. I'm leaning towards keeping my order but feel a bit like I'll be disappointed with it.

My approach is to keep it, enjoy having a full New Hope lineup for at least six months or so, and then reassessing when Hot Toys makes a figure. Will probably end up taking a loss ebaying this one, but I'll at least have a good collection for now and even better when they eventually upgrade. Did this with Sideshow / HT Darth Vader and didn't even take that much of a loss.

^ This.

Well I guess I have to reiterate what everyone else says and call out the terrible weathering. The oil streaks are the worst part. It doesn't look remotely realistic. Someone mentioned it looks to be done with a felt-pen. [emoji38] Yeah, that's about right. Buy other than that I like him. If I had the dough I might even have bought him. The weathering is something that can be remedied maybe. He ain't better than the Tama IMO, but he looks to have more "playability" to him.

Don't forget the blind monkeys. :wink1:

Once he's on display the clumsy weathering will hopefully not be such an issue as it is in photos larger than the thing itself.

Not better than the Tamashii, but different. And not so heavy, which is maybe where the "playability" comes in. There are at least more places I can safely display him - such as on glass shelves without fear of exceeding the weight limit. :lol

The Achille's heel of SSC has always been in the paint work. Rest of it tends to be very good. This just shows yet again that they do not have the ability for a top notch paint application

I'm gonna hang on to my order - yea there's some things that bother me about it but not enough for me to hate on the figure as a whole. The likeness is there, the paintwork looks ok/good - not the best they could do but good. I have the clean die cast version and love it! This will be a nice alternate version to display. Couldn't put this on flex in order to give me more time to decide anyway anyway because the exclusive version is on waitlist....

Although it pains me to keep my PO, I couldn't have said it better.

Pics aren't bad. It looks ok. And anyone who doesn't have the TN 3PO will be able to afford this one but I can't see buying it myself. Thought I might want a weathered version in addition to the Tama but not necessary.

That being said the only way I'd buy a HT version is if they included all of 3PO's extra parts in one release.
Completely gold like ROTS but with swap out silver leg/foot like in ANH. Possibly an additional red arm for TFA. And of course a damaged shoulder and separate arm. Oh and the cargo net.
