Many choices....

Considering how important the jacket is, nobody seems to be able to make one right.
Wasn't the Old Indy (crystal skull version) jacket pretty legit?

It's amazing how out of that whole crew, the HT looks the LEAST like Harrison Ford. I mean, it's not even close to being him. They somehow got his Universal Studios theme park stunt double instead.

I actually saw the Raiders Medicom Indy this weekend, and I gotta say, I was very impressed with the headsculpt. It really looked like Harrison to me. I'm pretty sure there's a lot of other thoughts on that, but all the same, I thought it was pretty good. Now the rest of the figure.........not so good. Plus the hat destroys everything.

The likeness may be the best, but the rest of the figure is garbage.

There is more to a figure than the sculpt.

The HT sculpt is iffy, but the rest crushes that group.

Though I think if SS TOD Indy comes out like the proto, yea I lol'd too, it will best the best looking Indy figure.

The HT figure may crush that group, but that's not saying much. There is just so much wrong with that HT figure. Idol (aka "goldenrod"), holster/belt and whip are just not really usable to me, body was way too huge. Even the HT shirt and jacket have major issues, though the pants, boots and bag are stellar.

And that HT sculpt isn't just "iffy" - to me, it is the single biggest letdown HT has ever released.

I really, really hope this SSC TOD Indy can come through, but after Han and Luke Hoth... it won't, and that's a real pity, especially given that pic above of previous attempts.:(

I didn't even notice this figure had a NRD on the order of only a single figure. I don't think I've ever seen a single figure, especially a single SSC figure, have a NRD. Even HT Chewy you had to order two to trigger a NRD.

I'm further confused by the fact that I ordered the Luke X-Wing and don't see any mention of a NRD (didn't see it at the time of order) yet that too now has a NRD. Have these NRD's been added a while after it first went up for PO?

It raises some interesting questions - if you order and pay the NRD, and the final production figure pics look bad, are you entitled to a refund of the NRD because SSC didn't deliver on what was shown on the pre-order page and you cancelled before shipping?

Given the issues with Luke and Han Hoth, you really have to wonder about SSC's logic - if they don't hold to their promise to produce the figure as shown in pre-order pics, why do they have the right to hold buyers to their promise to buy? This seems like you could dispute the charge of the NRD under the credit card's "not as described" category.

I think the NRD is a new addition, I haven't paid a deposit on either the Indy or Luke figures. Kind of puts a stop to pre-ordering, then cancelling and re-ordering once it becomes valid for a voucher.

That is so bizarre! I JUST ordered it yesterday with the new coupon and I didn't get charged the NRD. I checked my order on their website and it has no mention of an NRD either. I didn't notice yesterday if the NRD thing was on the order page or not. But yeah, today there's an NRD!

There wasn't a NRD on this yesterday when I cancelled my order and re-ordered using the LUCKYMARCH code.

:exactly:

It's only safe to pre-order a Sideshow figure with a human sculpt as long as you have the chance to cancel it without penalty.

Agreed. If Sideshow are having a problem with orders being cancelled at the point of release, maybe it's time to improve the release.

Yeah. I fear they learned the wrong lesson on that one.

"People cancel their orders when the production figures don't live up to the prototypes."

"Make it harder for them to cancel."

"Should we maybe improve the production figures?"

"Never speak again."

Oh, well. I was going to wait until my rp's for my HT Marty cleared to apply my store of (admittedly meagre) points to lessen the potential / inevitable disappointment on receiving Indy. But I'll take the code and save my points for something else later. Makes you wonder if the uptake on Indy has been pretty slow, following the poor reception the last few SS releases have received.

Yeah, well I actually went there to place my PO (which I had tried some time ago, but it didn't go through.) I was waiting for the coupon code, saw the March one, and was ready to pull the trigger, then I see the NRD.

At the point that they're doing NRD's on a single purchase of a somewhat basic SSC figure (despite the insane price tags, but that's simply their choice,) I think I will no longer place any PO's. It's worth doing anyway with the way the Han and Luke Hoth figs came out - wait for production pics and buy if you like what you see.

To me, this endangers what was SSC's way of selling their products, but maybe PO's really have no bearing anymore in terms of how many they make.

wow ...those Han shots are just god awful. I'm really surprised Sideshow in 2015 is releasing something like that.
May just pass on any figure from then including Indy....

Well, they are, and they aren't. The underlying sculpt is one of the better HF sculpts we've gotten in 1/6 - it's just that the barebones paint and poorly executed eye system (and presumably the gluing of the eyes and hat) denigrate what could have been great.

The prices they are charging are obscene for poorly made figures that look only slightly better than what they produced six years ago.

Well at least with the Hoth Han there's still enough there to make for a good display, once it's been weathered and posed the right way, and with the big coat and scanner drawing most of the attention.

But with the TOD Indy there's not much there at all to distract from a badly produced headsculpt if that's what it ends up with. Just a pretty basic outfit and a sword.

Oh, come on - the new Indy is only a little under THREE TIMES the cost of the SSC ROTLA Indy. Get with the times, man!:lol

Yup... don't you wish Indy had a parka and goggles on in the Nepal scenes? He does briefly hold his headscarf over his face in the Tanis scenes though, so there's that display option. Maybe just go with the classic looking-down-with-fedora-covering-part-of-face look so popular with 1/6 Indy owners thus far!
